As my heading does the larger icons work on the XL LIVE IQ routes. Tried looking at the table on the camera download page but did not see it there which makes me think it cannot.
If it can i think i must be doing something wrong as it is not working... _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

They do work in that they are displayed, blame TomTom for the reason they are no longer double the size they used to be as they changed the software to trap the icon inside a small box which rather negates their use - Mike |

In addition to what Mike says, the "x2" icons never really showed the icon any larger, only in better quality.
If the x2 icon wasn't present, the software would scale up the normal icon to the larger size anyway. |

When i downloaded the X2 icons i get a normal icon in the top right corner but when you see the icon on the road ahead it is just a red square and nothing else. That is what i found strange also. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

You still need the non-X2 icon. The X2 icon is the one that shows in the corner if the screen, while the original one is displayed on the road ahead. The red square indicates that it can't find the appropriate icon to display. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

A red square shown on the map is indicative of the normal bmp file associated with that POI being either missing or incorrectly named, for each Custom POI file you need to have:
The ov2 file (contains the data of locations)
The bmp file (contains the normal sized icon)
The x2_bmp file (contains the double size icon for top left)
The ogg file (contains the spoken alert where used)
Each file name preceding the file extension must be the same:
pocketgps_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgps_gatso_30.bmp
pocketgps_gatso_30_x2.bmp
pocketgps_gatso_30.ogg
Make sure you have all three (or four) files per custom POI category installed within the active map folder.
Note since TomTom altered the Navcore the double sized icon is displayed much smaller on screen (top left) than was the case when the icon sets were created - Mike |

Have just downloaded the latest speed cam database and made sure both the icon sets are on it. It is showing the camera on the map now but the cam on the top left corner is no bigger although it could be clearer but i cant say for sure. Typical of Tomtom to make things difficult when they can. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

As I said above.... The x2 icon was not to improve the size but to improve the quality.
The top left icon used to be bigger but the last round of "look and feel" software tweaks added a border of the same size so the icon got smaller to fit inside it. |

Just checking as I haven't upgraded. Has it got worse with V9? On V8, the 44x44 icon that used to be shown full size was shrunk to 32x32 to fit into the box - still a bit bigger than the on-map icon (24x24).
I was messing about and found that you can get the icon to expand vertically so have done some 44h x 32w ones that have the numbers the same size as the original ones but the title is higher. As it's shown full size, the quality is back up. Click "WWW" below to have a look. _________________ Gerry
