It's a useful feature, it just gives you a line indicating what way to walk and shows the map as it normally would.
The major downside is I couldn't find enough pre done routes to load into it. I was hoping to be able to download walking routes for Derbyshire and such, but nothing seems to exsist out on the net.

Thanks for the useful info, jonandmarkuk. Might see about selling my Satmap then, as I actually use it so rarely that a very simple tracking capability is probably all I really need.
