|
|
TomTom have announced two new navigation devices targetted at fleet users.
The TomTom PRO 7100 and PRO 9100 will be part of the WORKsmart fleet management solution and will offer live tracking, job dispatch, time management and reporting alongside TomTom LIVE services.
Although no images or specification have been released by TomTom, Engadget picked up the US FCC filings for the products last week which contain images of the bottom labels as shown above. These are a very similar shape to those fitted to the GO 1000 which may suggest they share the same case designs.
Both new models will be available in Q4 via authorised business partners, the PRO 7100 priced at £279 (RRP ex VAT) and the PRO 9100 at £349 (RRP ex VAT).

See; it seems to indicate an 8gb memory, why not have that in the 1000? Also I think I've read that they may have a 700mhz cpu - same question. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I wouldn't assume that is a reference to memory. Can't answer anything though in the absence of any tech specs! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren, read the FCC pages and on at least one page it clearly shows the model number and next to it a figure or 2G or 4G or 8G, as we know 4GB isn't enough to hold both the European and North American maps at the same time the move to the larger capacity was to be expected, although it seems strange for a truck related device rather than car biased - Mike |

No I'm sorry, should have clarified my sources. Irritated with 1000 spec. As Andy_P has said it seems an opportunity lost. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Has the CPU spec for the GO 1000 been confirmed? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I can't imagine they would change anything as fundamental as that on the day before official launch, would they? (although this *is* TomTom!) |

No of course not, what I meant was, has the actual spec of the processor used in the 1000 ever been stated? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've read the cpu is 500mhz, but this time I really cannot remember where I saw it. Would prefer a hamster - for one thing easier to replace. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I suppose [grudgingly] that a graphics processor will take some of the load off the cpu, so in theory represents a bigger increase from the current 400mhz, than 500mhz seems to suggest. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I'm running the Europe_Truck maps and it's Navcore on a 8GB card with all the POI's etc and it takes up 3.2GB nearly, 1GB of this is the Truck Data files which are additional to the map data that would only be required for car navigation. _________________ Graham.
