Hi Andyk3090,
This feature has been removed from the new spirit range. The only way to update the safety cameras on the device is with a subscription fro Navman themselves. |

Which is included if you either purchase the 2 Year Map Refresh pack (around £69) - monthly updates for speed cams and 4 maps updates (2 per year for 2 years - one available for download now) - or 2 map updates over 2 years free if you purchased from Argos or Halfords and claim within 30 days of switch on
They are quite comprehensive for fixed, but no where near PGPSW for mobile and not as fast to update - as you would expect _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Yes, I noticed - don't know why as they just released new model numbers (looks like same hardware and software!) - so i presume they intend to change something drastic within they system so they don't wish to support the models for another 18 months + from now _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

For this model you can now add custom POI's if you have the MioMore Desktop V7.30 and also the software update on the device. you will now get a custom POI tab in the MioMore Desktop so you can load the PGPSW database. |

I guess my 478 model does not support custom poi's.
I do not get that option with the desktop software
Perhaps I should have got the 470 or 475 TMC model.

Dont have but would have through the MioMore software (desktop) is exactly the same - but what came on the CD may be out of date - have you tried updating via Mio online? _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I have tried installing the provided dvd and updating and also full delete and installing the web 1.3Gb dvd image but alas with the same results.
I guess what we need is a list of Navman models on sale now that support third party poi's so we only buy the right ones.

mmmm... probably more to do with Mio's poor server availability and update service than the fact that it doesn't exist / won't work on the unit numbers. I would try Mio Customer Services and ask them for a link to the official download of the latest MioMore Desktop for your unit (say disk wont read) - got to be worth a try??? _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

When my 478 is connected I only get these options...
I even tried a fresh install on my XP netbook from USB drive to see if it was a Windows 7 64bit issue but I got the same menus.

Where is this documented and how would I "claim"?
Just bought Navman 478 from Argos - there is a flyer inside which says simply connect to Miomore Desktop within 30 days and download free map update
Doesn't indicate how long these 'free' updates will last - doesn't even mention one year |

I notice that post dated back to Tue Sep 28, 2010 and I expect is no longer on offer like the "Refresh Pack" for £69.00
