hi, i've just bought a kenwood dnx7240bt installed it and it works very well. the maps i have a 2009 so could do with updating along with the software, when i went on the kenwood website i found it's not compatible with an apple mac, can anybody help me?

Dunno why they are claiming it's not compatible? Garmin have POILoader for Mac and a Safari version of Communicator?
Have you run this to see if it offers updates for Kenwood units?

To update the unit software you need the mac version of webupdater. However I'm not sure how this will work with these kenwood units.
Can you clarify which software you are trying to use with a mac? |

maps are updated via dvd rom what you need is KNA-MP12E rrp £149.99 however the 2011 version should be out soon so you may wish to wait |

i meant the operating system on the kenwood headunit needs updating before any map downloads or installations. |

as i said, i am trying to update the operating system on the headunit. the system requirements state
System requirements:
1. IBM-compatible PC running Windows XP or later operating system and an available SD card reader.
i run an apple mac and the wife runs a pc with vista which also doesn't open the file that you download and need to run!!! |

I can't find the instructions on Garmins website so you'll have to tell me what you are supposed to do with be download as its a ZIP file so I guess you have to unzip the contents. What are you suppossed to do next? |

Without knowing what the instructions say EXACTLY it's going to be difficult to comment. If the file is a Windows Executable then you'll probably not get it to work under Mac OS.
It could be the file doesn't need to run but just needs to burnt to CD. The more you can tell us about the download and the instructions the better. |

finally sorted the download, i put a copy of XP on my mac and ran it in bootcamp, i now have the latest software on my kenwood head unit, |
