Actually, I got it wrong too, mate.....
For some reason, it looks like Home isn't offering it to x50 owners yet. |

Now, unless it is me being stupid, I don't think it is now possible to view incidents on route. Previously I was able to view each incident separately with a map but this option appears to be missing now. I think overall I prefer the older system, and I'll probably switch back. |

You can still view incidents on route from the HD traffic menu and "show traffic on route" button then the left or right buttons to scan through them. _________________ Drivelux |

I think he wants to view an incident, not all of them ;)

For me its worth the upgrade just to be able to turn off the Navigation commentary but to have the Gatso warning alerts! (Which of course is no reflection on my driving style) |

You could do that before using "Disable voice". |

You used to able to do that with the NavCore 8 by selecting "Disable Voice". I had my 740 like that for the last 8 months or so as i wanted the alerts but got into the habit of flicking a look at the screen rather than using the voice directions. Plus you loose the annoying "In 500 yards keep right" all the way up the M1....
Now there are 2 different options screen for the voice
Tap Screen - Page 1 - Change Preferences - Turn On/Off Voice Guidance
Tap Screen - Page 2 - Voices - Enable/Disable Voice
Anyone know the difference?
I assume the second one also disables the voice for things like "Toll Charge" |

I've just returned from a short drive around my locality and another thing is missing! No speed limit showing beside actual speed even though it is checked in preferences. That clinches it for me now; swapping back to 8.371 I think. |

Turn off guidance just turns off route instructions, POI warnings and other comments such as "route cleared" and "connected to" are still active. Turn off voice turns off voice for everything.
The display does show the speed limit near the speed when this infomation is on the map which it is for much of the roads. _________________ Drivelux |

I can say for certain that the speed limit is definitly not showing on mine. I use a stretch of dual carriageway every day and it has always shown the speed limit to be 40MPH but now it's not showing anything.
I reverted back to 8.351? (or whatever it was) but now my LIVE services are not working, so updated again to the latest 9.058, got an error code, and now it's asking for user name and password but won't accept them, unless I've forgotten them!
I guess it's time to call TomTom again. |

psyskiesman, have you tried the usual "20 second power switch" reset or failing that, a Return to factory settings?
Did you try to copy your MapSettings.cfg file over from a previous map/software combination? If the preferences are saved in there and it isn't quite compatible it could cause problems. Safer to start with a fresh one. |

Hi Andy_P,
I had upgraded my 940 to this new Navcore before going on a long journey - and I had multiple problems including two spontaeneous reboots and inablity to find satallite signals for about 20 minutes in the middle of a journey.
After that I decided to go back to 8.371 rather than live with a unstable and quite un-usable SatNav.
Is it possible at all that these problems were related to either MapSettings.cfg (I had not done anything specifically to this file) or with the maps themselves being slightly out of date?
(I had bought the device in May 2010 and had used the map guarantee to update maps. Live services have been subscribed and seem to be alright.) |
