|

Hi
I need some help choosing a nav that is going into a convertible car at a low level in a fairly tight space permanent install. I have a list of what is important to me.
I want the unit to be compact in the X and Y dimensions, I can afford 58mm by 94mm to the unit, which covers most 4.3" units if I throw out the casing and make my own bezel. I may have to drop back to 3.5".
I will need the GPS antenna to be moved to the top of dash to get a better signal, I could solder an RF cable without breaking sweat but a GPS antenna port with DC bias would be a handy port.
Good direct sunlight performance on the display and viewing angle from above is needed.
SD port and Windows CE operating system is much desired.
3.5" support might be needed.
RDS-TMC is desired.
I'm happy with buying used units from eBay, I see eBuyer have new F&H units at £60-ish with SD support so there or below is my price target.
I've seen used Garmins and Blaupunkts and Beckers for low prices used.
Thank you so much if you can assist. |

For what it's worth, my 4.3 F&H unit is 118x78, it does not have RDS TMC and is not very good in bright light and impossible to see in direct sunlight. It does not have the facility for an external antenna, but no doubt one could be patched in. It does not appear to meet many of your must have requirements. However it does have micro SD card support and it's pretty easy to install other software. |

Please enlighten me, What/Who is F&H?
However, Sorry estocks, I am unable to assist you in your quest as the only SatNav I know is the TT GO x30 and that doesn't meet your requirements. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

F&H seems to be the brand name that Ebuyer have given their in house range of satnavs. Made in China. Mine has a model No. of MV43. |

Many thanks for the info M8TJT.
EDIT - Have just checked out the Ebuyer web-site and the SatNavs look good value for money with equally good reviews. Thanks again. Ali. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Can I simplify then?
Should I avoid the Becker and Blaupunkt for my project, and who has the "best" screens? |
