The 1000 Regional version is now offered on TT's web-site. Why they need two versions with different memory capacities is beyond me. I thought it was going to be a basic platform with a range of customisable options. I'll go and ask the fairies at the bottom of my garden for a view.
Edit: you can't order it yet, they seem to have got the memory capacity wrong, isn't it 2gb not 4gb? They can't spell 'interest'. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Thanks for the update and comments. My 930's internal battery has died after two years so I am due to get something new, but I can't face the repair route and heaven knows what they will charge for a new battery, but the review has totally turned me off.
Never having downloaded the camera database for any Garmin model can you advise whether the camera warnings from PGPSW are as good in terms of announcements on Garmin as they are on TT. Fundamentally, is TT still the best of its kind on the market?
I wonder how many TT users have moved over to Garmin?
I await initial user comments with interest
Cheers

Less than £10 (delivered) on fleaBay - actually £7.35 was the cheapest I saw when I looked just now.
10-20 minutes to fit it (of which ~15 minutes is carefully removing the glue holding in the old one) |

There was a report of the new[?] satnav repair centre in Acton, West London charging £25 to install a new battery, the price included p&p. The 930 is a good unit and, in my view, not lightly discarded. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Did you get an answer on this one?? I did the same and was told this:
As a pure guess so I might be wrong but here goes anyway:
GO 1000 2G
A device with no SIM card or GPRS modem limited to 2GB of memory to cover regional devices in Europe devoid of Live services.
GO LIVE 1000 2G
A device with a SIM card and GPRS modem limited to 2GB of memory to cover regional devices in Europe that do have Live service coverage such as UK&ROI
GO 1000 4G
Strange one this, why supply 4GB of memory with a non Live connected device i.e. no sim or GPRS modem? Perhaps Central_and_Eastern_Europe where the map size is too large to fit 2GB and most of the mapping supplied with the device is devoid of Live coverage? Or possibly North American for supply in to Canada where you don't yet have Live services due to network restrictions?
GO LIVE 1000 4G
Western_and_Central_Europe OR North America where Live services are available.
GO 7100 8G
World traveller edition with NA and EU mapping but devoid of Live services. Possibly the larger screen size due to the device number sift away from 1000.
GO LIVE 9100 8G
World traveller edition equipped with full Live services, again maybe a larger screen due to the different part number, who knows this one might even have the EPT gyros fitted............
As I said at the start of this post its pure guess work on my part but I think the 2G, 4G and 8G denote the memory size and Live or not denoted whether the modem is fitted along with its Sim card. |

It's OK but not as good (IMO) as Navigon. If you add the in-app panorama view, traffic and UK PostCode options it's a very capable app with a lovely UI that works very well on the iPhone. _________________ Darren Griffin |

My my, you are the Stephen King of sat nav horror.
My lot of fairies couldn't comment as they are to busy with the contract to handle Tomtom Customer Services. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

My fairies wouldn't tell me anything, 'cos they said they'd signed an NDA |

Quoting part numbers listed on the FCC web site isn't a breach of anything, but it does help if you know where to look - Mike |

'Sensible' hat on; assume non-live models are the Vias? Wonder if rds-tmc will be kept on for leisure users? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

VIA's are a different range, XL replacements. These are also available in LIVE/non-LIVE variants. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Sorry, mate, looking back at my post, it could easily be read as being a little dig at you.
That wasn't my intention at all!
It was just trying to be a little joke about the whole notion of NDA's and why my fairies weren't being much help. |

So is it expected Vias will also be Home 3 tied down? I'm wondering about getting something Live before that happens? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]
