Trying it out now.
SIM error has gone and the screen touch sensitivity seems about right.
All live services appear OK so far.
Still a few network problems, it did work but then I got a SIM error 148, contact support.
Now I have received SIM error 111 "TomTom Live Services do not work abroad" I am in the UK with sat lock.
Flight mode in and out now says "Cannot connect to liv services".
Flight mode in and out again and now working again. I hope this is not going to be constant resets or flight mode switches.
Has been running overnight in my office without fallouts.
There are problems with fuel prices and I get the error message "an error occurred on the server please try later". _________________ Drivelux

Ooops, didnt see your post but have just posted the same in the other thread about 9.054.
Traffic connects, google works, taking an age for a Sat lock though!
Touch screen seems a lot harder to use now though, have to press 'harder' to get a reaction?

I also took the plunge - pleasantly surprised !
Everything does seem to be slower than on the older version of the software, but at least finally this seems a step in the right direction !
I wonder what surprise TomTom will come up with next ? ;) |

Hmm pretty graphics and the backlight stays on during the shut down screen. I suspect it was always meant to do this but didn't with 8.x NavCores.
Initially sat lock was quick but is getting longer with every boot.
Nearly 3 minutes before Traffic Bar shows any signs of life. Then another minute or so to log in...
Screen presses have to be firmer than 8.x
Unit seems very sluggish compare to 8.x |

Just been out for around a 20 mile dirve and I kept losing connection to the server, with a message similar to cannot connect to Live Services, please try again later. The network showed as connected with four bars of signal and most of the time I spent driving without the blue traffic bar, in spite of resets and flight mode switches.
I like the sensitivity of the touch screen.
The whole unit does seem slower, for an example on turning right, the screen rotates (3D mode) several seconds after you have turned.
I have turned off all POIs in the 3D mode and have all the PGPSW POIs showing in 2D mode.
I will give it a bit longer, but I am concerned about keeping losing the traffic although this could be another server issue. Time will tell. _________________ Drivelux |

Real world test = so far , so good.
HD Traffic still takes time (2-3 minutes) before it kicks in (by which I mean even attempting to connect - no side bar or spinning wheel) after switch on.
Graphics seem much nicer. Night graphics look better too. |

9.058 version seems faster than the old version 9.054 or 9.053 on my xl live. I will give it a proper try tomorrow. Ive planned a route on it for the midlands to portsmouth which is about 165 miles and it planned it in 40 seconds which is quicker than the old version 9. Ive also noticed that the ram free is now 23mb compared to 12-13mb on the version 9.053. That's why it might be quicker.

Does this version try to download the phone book from the phone every time it connects?
I have an issue where at the moment it thinks that my phone does not offer the phone book facility and I do not want to try and fix this in case tries to download every time it connects. _________________ Drivelux |

Updated this morning.
1. Operate my device from HOME doesn't work, not yet supported for my combination of device and computer!
2. LIVE services are not available "Please try later" this was initially after an Error 111 message which was probably because I didn't have a GPS signal, but has persisted since so maybe it is a problem.
3. When I connect to my laptop, it says the shutdown phrase when connecting after pressing YES
4. I've had the Error 1018 (?) once, and it told me there was a fault with my SIM after first updating.
What did I expect, going out now, looks like the iPhone app wins today _________________ Mike

Worked flawlessly for me this morning on my short journey to Harlow - live services all functioning how they should. I love the new interface and after slating TT for a lot in the past, I have to give them credit for sorting this and making such a significant update available for a device which in my case is over 18 months old. It really is like have a new sat nav. I am doing a lot of driving around the M25 over the weekend so will be able to see if all is indeed as rosy as it appears! |
