I believe the Go x40/x50 models use Nuance for the speech recognition.

I do hope you are joking. I haven't had such an email, but if they are sending out emails, then that is new fodder for the break my x40 mill who will be finding out that LIVE stops working.
I wonder what happened to that fix that was coming? |

My GO530 seems to be taking an age to log onto a satellite since the map update.

Hi Kinetic
It must be a coincidence. I don’ t think there is anything in the maps that affects the GPS one way or the other. My 720 has always been quick at getting a fix and hopefully it will continue to do so. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Have you tried deleting the GPSQuickfixes?
Remove the entire contents of the "ephem" folder on the Go and the "ephemeris" folder on the PC at C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\ephemeris |

There's always seems to be issues with map corrections not showing on new maps but how about a road showing on the maps that isn't even built yet !!
I've found the Alderley Edge A34 bypass (53.31254,-2.23833) on my tomtom last night as I was avoiding the M6. It tried to direct me onto it and was rather surprised when the sign posts said Works Traffic only.
I could see a few other drivers getting confused about it as well. |

The A1M was also like this a few years ago where the road wasn't completed but the new layout was shown on the map - Thanks for the heads up about this one on the A34 though as its a road I use quite often! - Mike |

the strange thing about it though is that neither tomtom's own online map or Google maps have this road reported. It's also not on the Teleatlas website as i was going to report it there as well, so no idea where tomtom got it from.
I suppose if enough people report it as not being there then mapshare may take notice. |

My 530 has always been quick also so I'm hoping it's a temporary thing. |

Yet another map email with added hype "To enhance your drive even more, the map is now divided into focused, detail-rich Map Zones. " _________________ Drivelux |

I noticed today that when I approached the Countess roundabout at Amesbury on the A303, it didn't say "Take the 2nd exit & join the motorway", in fact it said nothing!
Surely it should have said "At the roundabout take the 2nd exit". Odd, very odd. _________________ Be alert.. This country needs more lerts. |

Yesterday it tried to route me down the Alderley Edge bypass which has only just started construction and isn't due to open until sometime 2011!!!
Today, in Bradford city centre, it tried to tell me to turn right where you couldn't, send me the wrong way down one way streets and also seemed rather out of date with the current road layout in quite a few places!!
Why do we bother??? |
i know wot your saying why should we pay for map updates when they dont up date the maps.
in the town where i live there is a road that has been open at least 12months and it is still missing off tomtom v855 update;
my wife has a different make of satnav that runs navtec maps and the new road was on there maps soon after it opened . i even emailed tomtom about it but it was the same old rubbish ,we will look into it. |
