Ive just updated my Tom Tom 740 live and come across the Sim card issue - then came across to Pocketgps and have seen this is an issue affecting many. Why the hell are Tom Tom allowing this download to continue I found a nice blog article:
http://www.artiss.co.uk/2010/08/tomtom-customer-service
I am going to contact Watchdog maybe they can obtain some answers from Tom Tom.

Presumably because it DOESN'T affect the majority of their customers around the world - it is mainly only affecting certain UK customers.
I'm not justifying their keeping the problem update available, I think they have done themselves no good by doing it, but maybe that is their basic reason... |

It is not just UK users but French users as well as can be seen on their forums. There may also be users in others countries but I have only read French or English forums. _________________ Drivelux |

This is an age out quest for most of us ..I suppose we are so used to it now it doesn't effect us any more ,as you can see I joined in feb 2005 and this has happened from there on in
maybe 1 day they will actually listen to their customers _________________ TomTom 5001 |

That's why I said "mainly".
I still think it is only a small minority of users elsewhere. |

I am guessing that is the people who had the pre-roaming SIMs that were later enabled for roaming. _________________ Drivelux |
