|
|
I have been following the speed camera installation instructions in the compatibility and installation table for Copilot 8 with Android here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-copilot8.php
But for me it doesn't quite work, only the first set of the 5 camera types get installed. "Integrating xxx POIs" or similar shows for the first pair of files - but cancelling and restarting CPL8 as per the instructions for a 4 further times leaves 4 lots of non-functioning integrated files. The 4 subsequent subfolders that get created only have 2 or 3 files in them rather than a more normal 18 files.
I have an HTC Desire, and installed CPL8 (8.0.0.644) approx 8 weeks ago, have just updated to v8.2.0.218 (via my andriod web browser at www.copilotlive.com/androidinstall), and I still have the same issue.
Here's my workaround:
1) Download the recommended Copilot Live 8 CSV consolidated by type
2) Delete the 5 subfolders (if you've already installed previously)
\copilot\EU\UK Ireland\save\user_places\pocketgps-uk-gatso
\copilot\EU\UK Ireland\save\user_places\pocketgps-uk-mobile
\copilot\EU\UK Ireland\save\user_places\pocketgps-uk-pmobile
\copilot\EU\UK Ireland\save\user_places\pocketgps-uk-redlight
\copilot\EU\UK Ireland\save\user_places\pocketgps-uk-specs
3) Unzip all the files to a temporary location
a - copy the two pocketgps-uk-gatso.csv and png files i.e. the gatso files into \copilot\save
b - Start Copilot - the gatso files are "counted" and integrated
c - Quit Copilot
c - Copy the two pocketgps-uk-mobile.csv and png files i.e. the mobile files into \copilot\save
d - Start Copilot - the mobile cameras are integrated - note the camera count diplayed will be different each time
e - Quit Copilot
Repeat a, b and c for the remaining 3 camera types (pmobile, redlight and specs). So overall you will have 5 iterations of this "copy files then start Copilot then stop Copilot" process to follow.
3) The 5 folders referred to in 2) above are created with 18 files that represent "integrated" Camera POIs
4) To update next time - follow the steps from 1 onwards again, ensuring you delete the 5 subfolders and "integrate" only one camera-set at a time.
Hope this helps those who have the same issue, and or helps to expand on the instuctions already referred to.

Same problem here. Five failed installs on start-up.
I copied all the files to a temp directory on the phone and used a file manager to copy them to the save directory at the appropriate time. It saves having to keep reconnecting the phone to the PC.
That was once I figured out it kept installing CoPilot's speedcams instead. Deleting them from user_places doesn't work. It simply reinstalls them on startup. I permanently deleted them using CoPilot Central (explore my CoPilot / POIs).
Isn't the Desire a great phone |

I have just started using Copilot Live,
The trouble im having is that it does not show and speed cams at all. Ive checked all the settings dozens of times to no avail.
The odd thing is, that after the POIs are integrated, there are no extra folders made in the SAVE folder..... the CSV files are just sitting there and thats it.
Any ideas? |

i use the ov2 files ( these are the files tomtomuse) and install them into the save file .only copy 1 file at a time ,then turn copilot on and the poi will be copied onto the device then turn off copilot and repeat for the next poi. |

Just tried the tomtom solution, but still refuses to show cams.
Hiya, do you use consolidated or zoned Tomtom files?
Also, are all the tomtom files the same, or do you download ones for tomtom mobile for instance?
Lastly, do they go into a "speedcam" folder in the save file..... or do you just put them in there "loose" as it were?
Thanks for the help! |

Another quick question, does copilot 8 Europe include the UK and Ireland? |

I have UK and Ireland alone, but you can get other European country "groups" or Western and Eastern i.e. "all" Europe which includes nearly all of Europe along with UK and Ireland. Try http://www.alk.eu.com/buynow/copilot/
