I am fairly new to the sat nav world and wanted to update my speed cameras for the first time. Can anyone tell me if I subscribe to this database does it overwrite/delete previous entries on my Garmin nuvi 265? I have managed to successfully install the POIs from this site so am confident I can probably install them, I am just not very confident that I have comprehended how this works once downloaded. Don't want to waste money on a download that may confuse me when using my satnav (and that is easily done).
Any advice gratefully received.

Yes.
Each time you upload a POI it overwrites ALL the POIs installed on your Garmin.
So setup a POI folder on your PC and add new POIs to that and then upload the contents of the folder.
That way you won't lose POIs previously installed.
Each time you update the speed cams, the newest files will overwrite the previous set in your POI folder but other POIs you may use that are in the folder will not be lost when you upload the lot.
Hope that makes sense? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren is spot on
But just to make it clear, it only overwrites the poi's YOU have loaded, not the default Garmin poi's. |

Decided to delete all the mainland Europe speed camera POIs because I had CH included. (See separate threads re: CH fines if you have that data). And on checking I find I still have another set of POIs (on campsites) that I had downloaded from another source - that is not Garmin.
BTW have now reloaded Europe speed camera POIs - but excluding dear old CH. |

To clarify. I have 3 types of download.
Garmin pre installed / default
Garmin communicator plug-in
Garmin POI loader.
The last 2 can be deleted independent of each other. |
