Whilst trying to design soem of my own icons I noticed the the transparent red colour still shows red on my TT when used for POIs. I had also read somewhere that magenta also displayed transparent (it doesn't), so decided to experiment with various colours and icon sizes.
After much experimentation I found the following;
1. POI icons only support 256 colours (not 24bit as indicated by TT)
2. pure red does not show transparent in POI lists or on maps but does on the menu screens (e.g Navigate to..).
3. the icons do not need to be square (i.e. 24x24 pixel) but can be smaller.
4. Non-square icons will be scaled up to 48x48 on the menu screens, therefore make a 48x48 _x2 icon for any non-square ones.
5. icons larger than the max size show as a red square.
I've also noticed a lot of PGPSW icons contain transparent red, when viewed in menu screen. I have therefore had to amend several of mine.

A lot of it depends on the navcore version you are running. Transparency only really works well on v8.3 on the Go's (where they added the horrible pointer at the bottom). Also, it changed the alert icon from 48px max to 32px (scaling down if you use a 48px square icon though tall icons are fine). Your sig shows you are on 8.010.
What camera icons are you using? - the ones that come with the download or the alternative ones I designed. Mine have a red area around the gatso cameras on the latest version.
PS it's magenta on Garmins. _________________ Gerry

I'm not using the PGPSW camera DB, I'm using a combination of TT & trapster (although I'm seriously thinking about deleting TT's). It's not a problem on mapview or whilst driving as the transparency doesn't work there. But if you look at this view, both the Citroen & Tesco icons show large amounts of transparent. By Experimenting I tried changing the red to 255,10,10 which still shows transparent, but 255,32,32 works fine. It's a bit of a pain to change though as the icons never have a uniform colour

Either you're doing something wrong or it must be different on the ONE.
On all my Go's and on an XL LIVE IQ:
1. I am using "full red" for transparent icons fine. It shows as transparent in menus, maps and navigation screen.
2. I am also using some 24-bit full colour POI icons.
They are currently on v9 software, but it was always fine on v8 software too.
In the following pic, the two coloured icons in the menu are both 24-bit and the "Test" one with the "X" has a full red background.

I thought I was doing something wrong to, that's why I did the testing. as you see from my first 2 views, the "48" _x2 test icon is red on the nav view but transparent on menu view.
I think it's a v8 glitch, I'm sure it worked in v7. Another TT anomally, they got the transparent colour half working. The transparent works fine on the car icons. _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic
