With 9.054 for the Go950 the 'Switch to 3D view when following a route' does not work.
Every time the device is turned on and you select 'navigate to' you have to press the 2D/3D toggle to go to 3D mode. It didn't both me too much but not it is very annoying.
Looks like TomTom didn's test the 9.054 on any device. |

It does work, but the option is worded wrongly.
If you want to stay in 3D mode all the time, then UN-TICK where it says "Switch to 3D mode when following a route" in 2D/3D preferences.
Then once you have switched to 3D view it should stay there.
BTW, it's been tested, but that doesn't mean they change things before releasing it! |

Well with 9.026 the wording is the same. I have the 2D view when no route is planned and then when I navigate somewhere the view changes to 3D. When you clear the route the map returns to 2D. I have the option ticked for view as 3D which in my mind is correct. The initial connecting to traffic with 9.054 seems slower and I frequently get the rotating circle update for ages. On reverting back to 9.026 my 950 connects to traffic more promptly. |

Yeah, I know, the wording has been the same on all v9 software versions I've seen.
However, I can certainly say I have my 940 in a state where it stays in 3D view all the time I'm using it.
The only time it will revert back to 2D is if I manually "Clear route" from the menus, but I never do that...
With it in 3D view, I create a route and drive it all the way until it says I've reached my destination. At that point it is still in 3D view. I can then create another route to a different destination, and it stays in 3D. |

It did change to 3D Automatically when a rout was planed but after updating it will not how ever it's worded or selected. |

Its the kind of bug that you feel won't bother you but after a while it becomes damn annoying. I am still awaiting a reply from TomTom but I have gone back to 9.026. Quite amazing such a simple obvious error can pass through testing. |

I have, and I walked up and down my road last night creating short routes to prove to myself how it is working before I posted.

I am fed up as a consumer being a beta tester for everything. A box that used to be ticked to enable something now is unticked to enable something.
It's like an off switch becoming an on switch.
Thing is I like having the 2D view with no route planned and then 3D with a route. The upgrade is actually a step backwards in my mind.
TomTom support have responded to my email

At the moment, our developers are currently working on a few issues with the latest application, not too sure if this something they are aware of, or is indeed a slight fault within the application.
To allow our 2nd Line Team to investigate the issue further, can you please provide me with the System Information from your device? |
I deleted 9.054 from the device and computer and am not being offered it again! |
