Hi
No doubt everyone has seen the GPS on eBay which ship from US and promise UK / Europe base maps. Has anyone actually bought one and if so are they exactly the same spec as purchasing one from a dealer in the UK?
The prices some are quoting seem too good to be true, normally on eBay if it seems too good to be true its a con. Example would be Garmin 60cs eBay £385, Globalpositioningsystems £434
Thoughts and comments appreciated, I am ready to buy.
Cheers

i have bought from the US on ebay, not maps i must add but i did buy an Ipaq US spec and there wasn't any differance apart from the model number so my experiance was good, check out the sellers feed back, and pay using paypal is my only advice as goods are covered |

I wouldn't call that too good to be true or suspicious looking at all, I would call that your average eBay saving.
Remember, globalpositioningsystems probably have many overheads to take care of, some geezer on eBay doesn't. Couple that with things generally being cheaper in the US and it makes sense to me. _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6

Not sure about buying on ebay from america but have recently visited Florida where I visited a number of camera / electronic goods stores.
Having paid £640 here for a digital camera I was interested to see how much cheaper it would have been if I had bought it there, masochistic I know.
After haggling in a number of stores the cheapest I managed to get was £280 a massive differance, even considering the good exchange rate.
It is therefore not surprising that someone selling from america on ebay, possibly without any overheads, could be doing it all from home and selling at way below the prices here.
Regards
Alan
