weird - reports on another forum say that users on a dutch TT forum reckon the reset to factory settings fixes it. Maybe only if you have a dutch simcard!
Have any of you tried the XL LIVE 9.054 yet?
Its not that hard to extract a cab file using winrar! |

I've not tried the XL version yet and won't be.
I don't want to risk breaking something before TT get back in touch with me.
Also don't have winrar because I use a Mac. _________________ TT GO 1005 |

No sense of adventure
Don't want to risk breaking something - you can't make it much worse than TT already have and it takes 5 minutes to put it back to how it was.
Then again, I don't know which is the best app to extract the cab file with on a Mac ![Confused](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

Not having LIVE services is not a problem at the moment for me.
Given TTs past record they are quite forthcoming in compensation for lost days so I'm hoping to pickup a few credits for this! ![Razz](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) _________________ TT GO 1005 |

Andy, for once the on-screen message is (sort of) correct.
There IS something wrong with the SIM card on the UK x40 models, but it's something that doesn't seem to matter with v8 software.
The XL and the x50 models are OK with the update because they already have a SIM card that is OK with v9 software. |

So not a software but a hardware issue then!
Typical TT - I bet they tested this release very comprehensively before release ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I have today asked TomTom UK Public Relations for information on this problem, before I post an article. They had no knowledge of any issues and were going to contact Amsterdam urgently to find out what is going on.
I will report back when they give me an answer. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I am sure we all look forward to the answer - and a solution. Should I wait for that before I mess up my 950 any further
Edit: Have now got device working, but NO live services and no computer voices - only the spoken voices work, so limited direction data. _________________ Gee-Pee

I also updated my 540 yesterday with the Navcore 9 software and experienced the same issues, annoyingly, I found the forum posts after my unit had started updating itself (D'OH)
I contacted TomTom myself yesterday and spoke to one of their support staff who told me to restore my backup of Navcore 8, he told me that he had received 5 calls before me with the same issues.
He told me that the update will most likely be pulled from TTHome as it has been causing major problems for it's users.
I have reverted back to my version 8, and even though I have the updated boot loader now, I am back receiving my Live Services.
It's a farce that TomTom allowed this to happen but they should be well aware by now, of the problems it's customers are facing. |

Error 1008 after updating GO x40 LIVE
If you updated your GO x40 LIVE to application version 9.054, your GO may no longer be able to receive LIVE Services. Your GO can not connect to the network of our provider (error 1008).
To solve this, we recommend that you install the previous application version 8.371. Remove the application currently installed on your GO using TomTom HOME. HOME will then offer the previous application version.
Attention: Once the previous application is installed, HOME will offer the new application. Do NOT install that application. |

I like that grasp of English. Perhaps "to get back to where you were before your system was broken by our broken update" would be better. Good that there is a Home-only solution though.
To solve it, we'll have to wait for the proper update. |

Don't talk to me about TomTom quality of service slipping, I am still in an on going battle with TomTom over my 950, 7 nearly 8 months and 5th device. I was told this application update would fix the issue of my screen freezing and then rebooting, but they didnt tell me it would knock out my HD Traffic. And just to rub salt in the wounds this morning when I most needed it, I get stuck in a 40min q on the M11. |
