I guess that's what you mean
Well its' not the dongle its a fault with nissan and there connect instructions.
If you take an eye glass and carefully look at the pages 4 -19 i think anyway the pages that explain how to creat a poi.
You will se you have to creat first a folder called mypois
Then you have to creat a folder within that folder called mypoiwarnings
Then within that folder do you drop the files
So when you input this in the cars system it will load
I know what a pain and Nissan the main manufacturer customer services told me
Sir nobody has complain about this before
To which i replied
I am not supprised no body knows how to do it | From the previous page in this thread:
suzukiscottie wrote: | Your own POI's need to be loaded onto a USB stick in a folder called "myPOIs". They need to be in CSV format. Long; Lat and then Identifier.
If you have POIs which you would like to have a warning displayed/sounded (i.e. cameras etc), then those POI files need to be dropped onto the USB stick into a folder called "myPOIWarnings". Same CSV format as above.
As soon as you plug the stick into the cars USB port, a window pops up on the screen saying "new POIS available". Select the "download" option on the touchscreen and about a second later the job is done! :-)
In the navigation setup pages, you may wish to modify your POI warning distance. It is set at 250 yards by default. |
stiman wrote: | ok sorry all, i've done it. rtfm comes to mind! on page 4-19 of the Nissan Connect Owners manual it explains what you need to do. The folders on the usb should be as follows:
x: = your usb drive letter
x:\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings
place the CSV file under the above folder and all works fine
Thanks to suzukiscottie for putting me on the track, however it wasn;t clear the "myPOIWarnings" folder should be created under the "myPOIs" folder...
sorry to have bothered the forums
Best,

I don't see how Nissan can be held to blame for that? They clearly state the folder structure required as do we in our install guide.

Hi all
I have had a Micra Techna now about 2 months, I haven't had any trouble updating the Connect sat nav but I do have one problem I cannot solve.
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the sat nav audible road traffic reports other than turning the volume down low.
They even come on when you haven't got a route selected, or when you have a route selected and the voice muted. |

Just found your great web site and will be subscribing shortly.
However I noticed that:

Installing POIs overwrites those previously installed.

Does this mean that all POIs are overwritten, including those pre-installed by Nissan, or only those installed by owner?
Thanks |

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
Usually it means only those added by the user as the factory added POIs are normally seperate. Some systems wipe out the existing POIs before you upload POIs so you have to send ALL your POIs (even those that haven't changed) each time you update even just one file. |

Hi there, has anyone managed to get the Nissan Connect SatNav system to show the speed camera icons. Many other icons are shown, I wonder what happens with the icons.
Thanks! |

Can I just jump in here. Despite an exhaustive search I cannot seem to find much about the Nissan Connect SAtnav and what format it is etc. - I'm awaiting delivery of a Diesel Note N-TEC and of course prefer built in Satnav rather than sticking one to the window.
This thread is about all I have turned up via web-searching. I have recently passed my trusty Tomtom One to my girlfriend, and debating whether to treat myself to a new all-singing all-dancing one.
What can anyone tell me about the Connect's Satnav please, and in particular how simple (or otherwise) is it to keep updated?
Cheers

Have you tried out the Nissan satnav with the speed cams loaded to see if they work? I have just taken delivery of a Nissan Qashqai (after 4 months wait!) and am interested in downloading the speed cams which as yuo say have to be in .csv format.
I note from the manual that you are warned against putting the sd card into a card reader or computer as this will corrupt the map data. I was thinking of taking a backup nut will refrain from doing so.
It will be interesting to see how much Nissan charge for a new sd card to update the map which they say will be revised annually. |

I'll be picking up my new Nissan Qashqai (+2) on late Monday afternoon. I have already loaded a few memory sticks to update in the shop during the hand over to update camera site database and want to check the date of the map too. I'll be angry if it is dated 2008. I've also loaded (to test) the POI and icon of police stations and stored them inside myPOI folder to test to see if I can find them. I think you only load POI in the mypoiwarnings folder if you want to be alerted of proximety of a POI, in th ecase speed camera sites.
Personally I intend to be using my stand alone Pocket PC or mobile phone (HTC HD2) running igo8 (previously igo 2006) in the Qashqai because it it far superior at everything else, compaired to what I have experienced. Just come back from a car holiday to South Spain via Channel tunnel, the igo8 was faultless. Anyway, I'm prepared to interrogate the connect system and the SD card. I'll let you know if I can get camera icons and extra POI easily loaded. I will want to add my poi from my igo 8 to the connect. Can anyone remind me where they are? ...was it userdata |

If you got your car new it should be included. If you bought this car second-hand it would have been wise to check it should have been included there. If you bought a 'used' or new Connect' system you need to either buy/bid for a slightly dated Nissan SD card or buy the very expensive SD card from Nissan with a date of late 2010 or Q1 (quarter 1) 2011. My personal recommendation is to put that money to buy a new SD card into buying a proper, good or better navigation system that is more flexible. I bought a Brodit holder for the Nissan Qashqai and have my HTC HD2 there running IGO8 with proper icons (for everything, including Nissan garages etc) and warnings. Although I also now have an iphone 4 with My Navngo (igo8) it is not as flexible or accessible as windows pocket pc or Windows Mobile version of igo8 (or indeed igo 2006). don't pay too much for a dated SD card, anything is better than nothing, but my opinion is that it is only worth about £20. Because with my NavNgo or igo 8 maps I get a years worth of free updates (and what appears to be a lifetime of updates, on the iphone 4 version ).
Only a nissan connect SD card can be used. Only go for a 2010 card unles you get the 2008 for a few pound (owt is better than nowt!) |

Then what I expect has happened is that an earlier customer had a problem with their SD card being out of date or something and the card that was in your nice new shiny car had it's card pinched (your car was shipped (left Sunderland, Tyne & Wear) with the new or latest card installed). You need to complain to the dealer direct or register your complaint at Nissan Customer services. Their telephone number will be in your paperwork somewhere. Do it before too much time has passed, else they'll charge you. Good look! |

Just thought I would pass on some info.
I had a new Connect sytem with new car and although car was Sept 2011 the maps were 2010 (25920BH00C), not very good to my mind but there you go it is a Nissan after all.
Anyway I now have 2011 Maps/SD card (25920BH00D)(sd2-CONNECT_2011_EUR v5) but although being a larger size than the 2010 SD (3.67GBGB) (2011 4.24GB) the map did not perform the update process that it did when I went from a 2009 to a 2010 SD.
Both the 2010 and the 2011 come with PIO camera warnings but the 2009 did not have them.
So maybe the 2011 is the same system as the 2010 (25920BH00C) but with extra maps.
At one point I thought the map may have been taken out (stolen) from the car but after going through the menu system and the hidden menu SEE NOTE BELOW you can see revision history but there was none and was none even after installing the 2011 SD card.
NOTE:
USE AT OWN RISK!
(press system and move right control knob left, right, left)
Hope that makes sence. |
