The comment made about relying on the overspeed indication relying on the map data is very unreliable, I have seen a marked increase of sudden drops from 50mph to 30mph zones being introduced which are not shown on maps plus the speeds shown are very unreliable if shown at all also the 20mph school zones which I sometimes pick up my grandkids have well shown signs but due to cars parked down both sides make it difficult to actually notice them because your eyes are busy watching for other events, I personally treat the warning sounds as a necceasry background event to aid the main focus i.e. My Eyes.

I find a speed limit indicator VERY useful. I CERTAINLY don't rely on it blindly, because it is bound to be wrong sometimes (but actually not too often in my particular driving experience).

It's when I'm in an area where the limit changes frequently (especially at roundabouts, where the sign can be 'hidden' in a forest of other signs, and there's also traffic to give way to), or where repeater signs are (strangely...) lacking, because that's where I can become a little unsure whether I have had a moment's attention lapse at the main sign.

So, even with the risk of occasional inaccuracy, I do find that the reminder is extremely helpful.

Just avoid the models with the very small number 2 in the device name, for example:

XL IQ will be fine for POI files and warnings
XL2 IQ Is not something you should touch
Start and Start 2 should be avoided as they are too simple

It reminds me of the time I had a heated argument with their customer support representative who was adamant my GO 910 used an SD card…duh!
