Own a Sat Nav from Navigon ? Want to download then be able to use the additional custom POI 's you have found on your Navigon Sat Nav device but can't?
Well you can now!!
This is a fairly simple to use Navigon Custom POI Converter.
Navigon POI will do the conversion from a downloaded csv file for you, take a Garmin.csv file, that is in a format of - "long, Lat, Town (inc POI Name), Other Details" and convert to a POI for the Navigon device from within the software. It's very easy to use, just a few clicks and custom POI's are on your Navigon device.
Navigon POI s/w is just a work around I came up with, it is basically a POI conversion and transfer interface that will allow you to create and add your own or downloaded Custom POI's to a Navigon device.

Also, I've had a quick look at the description that comes with it. A few limitations to note:
1) It has a practical limit of about 5,000 POIs for efficient retrieval;
2) As the POIs are loaded as Imported Addresses, which does not support categories (eg pubs, hotels), it looks as if they are all lumped together for a search, so that when a 'town' search is done all loaded POIs in that vicinity will be listed mixed together;
3) If Voice Command is being used when a 'MyDestinations' search is carried out, the unit will hang - can't tell if the operation can just be cancelled or whether the unit has to be reset. So, essentially Voice Control and NavigonPOI are incompatible - I assume though that you could use Voice Control for any commands which do not involve 'MyDestinations', as long as you didn't forget!;
4) It does not support POI Warnings (ie PGPSW cameras);
5) No icon display on screen - 'navigate to' only.
BUT, if you need support for fairly simple and relatively small numbers of POIs and don't want to pay for it, and aren't getting a new range model at the moment, this could be a useful feature (if these limitations don't concern you too much). _________________ David
