What's New in Version 1.4
- IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UPGRADED TO APPLE iOS 4, YOU MUST INSTALL THE LATEST TOMTOM UPDATE, VERSION 1.4, TO CONTINUE USING THE APP.
- SEAMLESS NAVIGATION WHILE CALLING (iPhone 3GS only): See continuous visual instructions, even when you are on a call, so you still find your way. Now making and answering calls safely won't slow you down.
- NEW, UPDATED MAPS: Because on average 15% of roads change every year, your TomTom app comes with the latest and most up-to-date map, ready to navigate. No mobile signal or data plan is required to browse your map and navigate to your destination.
- BACKGROUND NAVIGATION INSTRUCTIONS (iPhone 3GS & iPod touch 3rd Gen. only): Lets you see other apps on your screen while still receiving spoken turn-by-turn instructions.
- ROUTE SHARING: Share your route details with your contacts via email. Keep friends and family up to date with your plans.
- DEPARTURE REMINDER: Your departure is synched with your calendar, so you can set it and get a timely reminder.
- ECO ROUTES: Save money and reduce your impact on the environment by driving with these more fuel-efficient Eco Routes.
- CAR SYMBOLS: Personalize the car symbol on your driving screen. Choose from a range of car icons and symbols. |

I just installed the update and am very impressed by the polish of the app. Fast switching works perfectly with the app resuming exactly where it left off when it was closed. There are more options within the computer voice so you can configure what is read out with TTS. I've not received a phone call whilst using it yet so can't report on how that looks but will have a go tomorrow at some point. The only minor issue so far is that a new road opened a little over 6 months ago that I go down most days hasn't been added yet. _________________ Phil Lee

Strangely I found the older version worked fine on iOS4, but glad to see TomTom have got this released so quickly.
Will it multitask with CamerAlert? Although I guess if TomTom multitasks then that's enough. |

To confirm it does work with CamerAlert. I run TomTom in the background, and CamerAlert in the foreground, as CamerAlert doesn't seem to multitask yet.
Be warned, those updating, as 1.4 deleted all my favourites. I had loads in there, and was fairly off.
It also reset my traffic subscription, and initially showed that I didn't have one. I had to login for a second time, and then it appeared. |

We're busily working on adding full multi-tasking support. We worked to get out an iOS4 compatible release first and are now concentrating on the multi-tasking feature as a priority. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the info.
I can still sort of get it to work by launching TomTom first, and getting the audio alerts. |

For simplicities sake can we continue discussion in the thread I've just posted here.
Nothing personal Hailstorm, just that my post has an associated web page so gets indexed quicker by Google
I'll lock this thread now. _________________ Darren Griffin |

mattyduk: Try logging in again (press your email address at the bottom of the screen). This resolved it for me. |
