if you were to be able to get to TomTom, they would probably turn round and say, well what do you expect you are useing blah blah blah.... receiver and blah blah blah... hardware.

As long as his PDA is on this list I don't see it an issue.

homer tt will get you from a to b i use it every day running for upwards of 13 hours on an xda2 and have used it on a 2210

Thats nice... but his doesn't... hence him saying it's not fit for purpose.

i think you may have sd card problem rather than an unsuitable product

I'm curious. What is this based on, given he hasn't actually said what is wrong other than it fails every 5 minutes?

who says any pda's are on any list?.
who says any pda is the issue?.
What i am saying is TomTom would probably recommend the use of the product types they market as in Their GPS receiver etc as against a Rikaline for example.
Again Total bullcrap, rather like Ford saying their engines run better on Ford oil against Mobil 1. Dont laugh, my local Ford Garage tried this one on me.
At the end of the day to say a certain product does not do what it is supposed to do is a pretty strong statement, especially as it seems to do as it should for many others on this forum.
Equally, if it is not doing it for this individual then perhaps one would need to look at ALL the equipment and not just the software.

Tbh, I'd assumed it was Tom Tom's bluetooth equipment...as thats what he says he has? Aside from that, the only compatibility issue they could bring up is does he use a PDA from the list I posted. Other than that they wouldn't really have an arguement of that manner.

I do agree all other possibilities should be checked, again, if he is going as far as wanting to take them to court, I would guess he has checked its not that his bluetooth just doesn't work on his PDA...

The fact that Tom Tom works for lets say 99% of other users on this forum, is surely further proof that his is faulty and is deserving of his money back?

Having said that, EvilH? If offered a replacement, I'm guessing you would be happy? The replacement would hopefully work fine and get you from A to B, hence resolving your problem?

Andy you are right, we only have to look through these forums to see what a nightmare any bluetooth setup with TT has been although it seems to be a little better these days.
At the end of the day though, one can sympathise with EvilH, because we all know how frustrating it can be when you part with your hard earned only to end up with a lemon, and all us lot chirping in with "it works fine for me" only serves to antagonise the feeling though i'm sure none of us are stirring the pot in this way.

:D
OK..... Time for an update.

I've now talked my supplier into accepting TTN3 back without the metal plate (threatened to name and shame on this forum and other places).

I then purchased an Emtac GPS sleeve for my IPAQ and guess what, it works perfectly using exactly the same config as before, I've even reinstalled the program and map's etc to my SD card and it still works. This would seem to point to the TT Bluetooth unit being faulty.

Before anyone comments I've also purchased just the TTN3 software from the same supplier.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions.

Evil Homer.
