I expect no less from you, but you can do BOTH...

Having used the 575 from a friend (and being a Navman interface fan, though not a fan of the company), I think for £120 its a great sat nav with a wide range of core features that are missing on many similar priced units - and most importantly for me it gives great directions (routes I would choose)

Its not ground-breaking, but it puts Navman back where perhaps it is now best - in solid territory for first time sat nav buyers in Argos or Halfords, or someone who doesn't want all the bells and whistles, it is a no-brainer

What is more, for the first time in ages, the software seems to be bug free!

Very true. And we have never set out to slate a product undeservedly nor would we gloss over issues that exist.

I've only just received it, no glaring issues so far but I'll run it for a week before putting my findings in a review.

Hi Darren
Did you ever get round to writing a review of the Navman 575.
Halfords are doing reasonable deals on the 470 and the 575 at the moment & I am thinking of chopping in my Garmin Nuvi 1300 for one of these?
Any advice gratefully received.

Coincidentally I'm putting the finishing touches to it right now, should be up tomorrow or Thursday latest.

Coming from Garmin you'll be disappointed though.

Many thanks - look forward to it.
Will be interested to hear your views v the Garmin when it's done.

I'm not so sure Darren - I use the Garmin 765 as my main unit currently, but more and more often I switch to my Mio Navman 575 for a few reasons

Firstly location awareness on the maps in better on the Navman, and is the timing of the vocal turn instruction and a more clear on-screen turn (its looks proportionately more accurate than my Garmin, so I don't turn too early or too late)

The larger screen, and simple interface is also attractive

For the Garmin, 4 map updates a year (as opposed to 2 per year with Navman, or 1 per year for 2 years for free with the Halfords free map update deal) is better, as is the lane navigation on the Garmin - however, my Garmin often forgets to display all of its lane guidance (from the ones I know it knows) and though the Navman displays less frequently it is consistent, so less bugs

Whatever you choose, there is always better features on another unit, together with things you will miss

All in all the Navman is great value and very reliable (its routing is better for me than Garmin - more direct routes), just wish they had a premium model with some extra features like Live and 4 maps updates a year
