Hi guys back again
Sorted TT Home issue out, now latest map update won't download.
I get the message below:
ERROR: DesktopLib/InstallToDevice/GetInstallable/InvalidArchive1: This file is invalid (archive file): C:\Users\my name\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map\United_Kingdom___Republic_of_Ireland-4\United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland.zip
@ .\framework\InstallToDeviceThread.cpp(1005)
Never had any problems before - reported to TT but I know they can take a couple of days to respond
Any ideas?
Thanks

Is the TomTom the only device you have got registered with them as a -4 map is a few years old so I am wondering if its intended for a different device you might have previously owned/ registered using the same e-mail account?? - Mike |

Hi Mike
Yes it's the only TT I've owned, although my son has a new version of the XL. He has connected to my PC but I'm fairly sure it was on his on account

Browse to the folder using Windows Explorer that is in the error message.
There will be two zip files, a small activation file and a larger file that is the map.
Can you extract the map manually using WinRAR, WinZIP or the built in Windows Zip utility?
If you get an error message about invalid or corrupted archive then your download is corrupt.
Delete the whole folder from the PC and download again. |

Andy
done that - message 'file is corrupt'
When you say delete folder, do you mean just the -4 folder?
The down load did stop mid way the other night
Thanks

Are you trying to download using a wireless connection? If so, use a directly connected computer. TomTom servers tend to be really sensitive with large downloads (like maps) on wireless...... _________________ David |

You only need to delete the folder that the corrupted file is in.
Exit HOME completely first.
This will force a redownload of the map when you next update your TT. |

Hi guys
dhn - yes it was a hard wired connection - I've fell for that one before (think it was you that gave me that advice back then). Thought I may be heading for trouble when the download said it would take 2.5 hours!. Sure enough it failed after 20 mins. Seems to happen with tea time downloads!!
Andy - followed your instructions, worked a treat. New download took 20 mins. (early saturday morning)
I now notice that previous Map update files (1 to 4) are on my hard drive. Can I safely delete once TT is updated?
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated
Rgds

You can safely delete the previous downloads - but if you do you won't be able to install these previous map versions should you wish to use an older map for any reason.
Burn them to CD/DVD and then delete them would be my advice. |
