I'm really sorry if this has been mentioned before but couldn't find anything with the search tool! I have just subscribed to TomTom's map update service and the first time I did it I noticed when I was driving all my PGPSW speed camera alerts had gone. Speed cameras all still there, but I had to stop at services and go through the lot adding alerts - and as we all know this is a real pain in the ass one time round, let alone every time a map update comes through!! Is this an issue guys, or is there a work around...?

Many thanks in advance (before I install the next map update just notified!! :-)

The "trick" is to backup the mapsettings.cfg file from your map folder before updating the map. Ideally you should be backing up the whole unit using Windows Explorer (not TT Home) before you update the map anyway.

Then once the new map is in, you can restore the mapsettings.cfg file.

Sometimes this doesn't work and the unit will reboot or refuse to start. In which case you can connect the unit to TT Home, use the Operate My Device option to add a Favourite to the unit and this can fix the problem.

Occasionally that doesn't work either and you have to bite the bullet and accept you have to do the alerts again.
