Anyone with a 740 had the 850 maps "Western and Central Europe" maps yet? When I look at "Add maps" in Home, all of the maps offered are 850 except "Western Europe" and W&CE. I've cleared my IE cache, but would rather not have to reboot to find out if that is what it is. On the other hand, if it isn't there, I'll wait.
Thanks, Matthew |

No, I haven't had an update for my 740 yet either. I don't think there is one yet. |

just connected my TT ONE to update some POIs and download the GPSfix and it told me UK&I 850 was ready for download, downloaded in 5mins & about the same to install.
But here's the best bit, it was free as my update service expired at the begining of the year
I suppose they've been in such a rush to get it out at last they forgot to set the proper access rights, so everyone hurry up before they realise
Can't see much changed though, all the map errors near my home are still there, although various people have reported them many times for the past 2 years
Edit: lost all my favourites too, copied the old mapsetting.cfg back but still not there _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

Are these gripes with maps unique to TomTom or is it the same story with other manufacturers?
TomTom must be one helluva product if so many people keep buying them despite seemingly hating almost everything about the company. |

No new W&C Europe maps for either my GO 740 Live or my XL Live IQ Routes yet!
As an aside, when the new maps do appear what file is it that I need to save before updating the map to keep the settings for my Pocketgpsworld speed camera warnings?
I seem to remember it is just the mapsettings.cfg file which needs to be saved and then copied back after the new map is installed, could somebody confirm?
The last time I tried it on the GO 740 Live when a new map appeared it didn't seem to work and I ended up having to reconfigure all the alerts!
Perhaps an expert / moderator could clarify the procedure and set up as a sticky?
Would love to avoid the task of setting up all those alerts again! |

I copied my mapsettings.cfg on my ONE series 30, but still lost all my favourites and corrections. I think there must be an additional file on some of the newer models (probably one of the .tlv files) _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

I don't think the .tlv files are relevant, but the issue with mapsettings.cfg is that if the *software* is changed at the same time as the map, it's that which can screw up the POI warmings still working.
Either live with it, or *sometimes* opening the "Operate my device" emulator in Home and then saving a new favourite can update and overwrite the mnapsettings.cfg file so it then works with the new software.
If it still won't work, give up and re-do the warning settings. |

Hi adobbing
When ever I have installed a new map I have always found that the favourites and speed cameras have vanished. However, in my experience the simple task of copying the mapsettings.cfg file from the previous map onto the new map soon puts things to rights.
Sort of.
You see, the favourites reappear ok but I have never managed to get the Speed Cameras to show. Why? I do not know. But, I have got quite fast at setting them up again and it doesn’t bother me at all. I'm afraid Its just a part of life. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.
