Thank you for creating the videos.
What I did not follow was how you created the GPX file from the route on the Google Map. Could you please expand (in a reply - not a video update) what one does to create the GPX file
Thanks |

Thanks to your video I have discovered a few things.
I used GMaptoGPX to create the GPX file from the Googlemap route.
I had to then save it to the hard drive with no line feeds and with a GPX name.
I could then open the GPX file in BaseCamp and display the route on the maps in Basecamp - so checking that the route is readable, I then copied and loaded it into the SatNav a nuvi 775. Where it then worked.
As an aside using Basecamp (a Garmin supplied program) may in some circumstances be a better option - you do not get the variable routing option that you get in Googlemaps but you get a one step update to the Satnav using Mapinstall which is called by Basecamp - ensure that you deselect the install Maps etc.
Again thanks for your prompting to get to know more about the intricacies of the nuvi |

Hi
I used the TYRE program which I talk about in the video. I designed the route in Google Maps, and then TYRE has the facility to import the route from the Link URL you can obtain from Google Maps. This is explained in the video. It might not be clear, because I did try to use a screen capturing program to make the video, as well as the video camera, but the screen capture failed.
Thanks |

Thanks - I didnot connect that tyre did the direct conversion - however tyre is a 'doze only program - my workaround works on all operating systems (I think) as the conversion is done via the URL of the GMapToGPX site |
