I have a 1370 here that successfully uses the .BMPs supplied with ASH10's Camera Manager - and they are 24x24...
Maybe it's the colour depth, rather than the resolution
My original StreetPilot C510 used to crash every time you went past a Netto... It turned out that the .BMP for that particular POI was a "24-bit color BMP", rather than a "16 color BMP" (to use MSPaint's terminology). |

Sorry guys, I have a TomTom which doesn't appear to mind what colour depth the icons are in. I'll have a look through them later to see which are 24-bit and which are something else.
Are Garmins OK with "256 colour" bmp as that's what they were all supposed to be in the first place? Are there any specific sets I should look at as a priority?
In the meantime, you should be able to load the bmp into Paint and 'save as...' in another format.
Originally, they all started in MSPaint - something which gave everyone a big laugh when they realised I was being serious. _________________ Gerry

GerryC. The 24x24 icons worked fine last year on my old i3, 760 and 765. The 48x48 even "worked" but you could only see a 24x24 corner of the icon.
I suggest the problem is not the icons. |

very strange, ive downloaded the 16x16 and consolididated icons onto the nuvi and all works well. prior to this all my poi,s and speed cams where on a micro sd card sandisk 2gb, i removed it and transfered all of the poi,s including speedcams to the nuvi and tryed it out.low and behold all works well i maybe thinking it may of been the sd card it,s self that was causing the problem. |

A nuvi will not properly use 32 bit color icons (they may display but there will be no transparency). For a nuvi be sure to save the bmp in 256 color (aka Indexed color) mode. The magenta color (r=255 g=0 b=255) appears transparent on the nuvi, allowing for non-rectangular looking icons. Keep the size to 24x24 or under, and make sure that at least one of the dimensions is an even number.
bmps display fine on the nuvi this way, I've made several that work great.
i found this info via another forum. |
