Just purchased a mio spirit hands free 500 and navman/mio say that they only supply camera updates if you purchase their map updates and you can only download them twice a year can anyone advise if I can use the database that is on this site and if it is compatable and any helpful instructions on how to do it

Does it say in the manual whether you can add "third-party POIs" to it?
(P.S. Any reason we couldn't have continued in your other topic? ) |

You've got the unit in front of you, we haven't.
If you can add ANY sort of POI file to it (Kentucky Fried Chicken, Museums, Halfords stores, whatever) then you will probably be able to add a version of the camera database.
Help us to help you.... |

There's a compatibility table for what models/brands can or cannot load the PGPSW camera database HERE.
On that it says that the Navman "S series" models *can* load a version of the database, but that they are limited in the maximum number of points they can handle.
This would mean you might have to restrict yourself to just the fixed cameras and not have warnings for the potential mobile camera sites (99% of which will not be there at any one time anyway).
Maybe a more modern model like the S555 has managed to get rid of that restriction though. I'm afraid I don't have any direct knowledge of the Mio/Navman machines.
If you can find any info at all about adding POIs. that will go a long way to us being able to say if the cameras can be added too. |

What shows up on the screen is similar to my navman 40i
giving you options of when the cameras are loaded distances and icons but as I have just purchased it not sure how it works and as I am eligible for a free map upgrade within 30 days of purchase am unsure whether to try anything before I get the upgrade
But once again thanks for the help so far
as the user manual is on line and 185 pages I am reading it bit by bit
