I have both CamerAlert and the Tom Tom iPhone App. Can anybody help with how I add POI's and Camera Alerts / Locations from Pocket GPS World to my iPhone software.
Thank You

Unless you fancy JailBreaking your iPhone you can't put custom POI files on to it, if you do this and get the POI files installed there is no way to set a warning up so they are not well supported by the TomTom app - I find the Nav to / Google search is very handy for finding destinations.
As for CamerAlert simply update the database from within the app to download and install a new set of camera POI files - Mike |

Download a prog. called iphonebrowser and you can add poi and speed cams yourself to var/mobile/applications look in each folder to find UK-IRELAND APP then open united kingdon/rep.of ire. folder then drag on drop pois and cams into iphonebrowser all done.
Please this only works if iphone is jailbroken |

Gav, I haven't tried that method in quite a while but unless something has changed it doesn't work, sure you can put voices and POI files in to the .ipa file on the PC but when you next sync the iPhone it knows something isn't correct (file size) so it downloads a new untouched copy - Mike |

No solution on adding PoI.
But I have been running Tomtom Western Europe and CamerAlert at the same time with success.
I'm doing this on my iPhone 3GS with the system upgraded to iOS4 which allows multi-tasking. TT is updated to allow multi-tasking so open that and set it going, then open CamerAlert (which is not modified yet for multi-tasking) and run it in front of TT.
You see CamerAlert and the camera map, but you only get the TT voice commands, and the TT camera alerts. You'll have to wait for CamerAlert to go multitasking before you can run TT in the foreground. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I have been searching for this answer for a while, I have a iPhone 4 which I hope to add tomtom and was thinking of adding Cameralert.
I presume that when/if cameralert releases a version that is multitasking that will allow tomtom to run in foreground and camealert to run in background?
This is just what I am after!
Can you tell me if the built in tomtom Speed Camera alert is any good and how does the camera database get updated?
Thanks

But it doesn't enable any alert functionality so apart from managing POIs it won't help. _________________ Darren Griffin |

you can do the same with navigon too. both use custom URL schemes that allow you to launch the app with a specific location as the destination.
try http://findstuffnear.me on an iphone with tomtom and/or navigon installed.
