No idea, it didn't occur to me to check that info at the time. The final specs are a long way of being decided yet so as you say, detailed comment is best reserved for the release versions. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Perhaps the 3rd party camera data will be managed in the same way as apps for the iphone? |

So a magnetic mount, close to a device with compact circuitry, running low level dc, and an antenna to pick up gps signals I would like to know a bit more about that.... |

Makes you wonder how mag-mount GPS receivers work, that big magnet and the GPS antenna and receiver all on top of each other
Seriously though, these are tiny magnets and the unit picks up a signal fine so I don't think there are any issues with such an arrangement? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Can you be a TT user and be optimistic? OK so the magnets are very small, but they still need to counterbalance 290g of device. If it has all been tested then I'm happy to accept there is no problem. |

What they really need to do is to send it to somebody who can park it in amongst a few others and see how they interact - volunteers called Dennis?

I hope parking isn't going to be 5 days old like petrol prices - or is that 5 years old |

How many times do you want a carpark, as opposed to wanting to park? I'm talking on-street and off-street. Last time I used an off-street carpark was back in the days of the ark, except for a Park & Ride. Last time I parked on-street, I got a ticket (well, in December)!! It'll be the next MapShare. I'll have to get a new signature! _________________ Dennis

Maybe is is a TomTom feature similar to the UK HD add-on device? Using local cellphone masts it will detect users moving and direct you to the next available free parking space on street. Unfortunately at the moment the beta version directs you on to the M25 as it detects it as a major car park. _________________ Drivelux |

Hilarious as all this is, can we return to the topic or wander off and create a different thread on all the ills of TomTom please.
I appreciate that we all have our issues with TomTom, but lets not cloud every thread with moans about them please. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I wonder if the parking assist could be similar to what this site provides.
Simple search, display and map and already availible on the iPhone. _________________ Graeme Bennett

I think the positives are the long overdue processor upgrade and the new screen - as for the POI support I will reserve judgement until more info is known.
Given the recent 'closure' of some dubious forums after threats from TT lawyers regarding piracy, the FAT32 issue etc I don't think TT had much choice about a completely new approach.
I remember talk on here a while ago about route processing being moved to the cloud with the possibility of 3G enabled devices, so this is kind of a first step towards that.
Looks interesting, at least it is a significant product developement leap rather than a rehash of existing technology. Long overdue as TT seem to have been losing the plot lately. |
