Yes, if you use the A to B function you can choose from Quickest or Shortest Route. Most applications will support Quickest and Shortest. |

...though I think I read somewhere in one of these forums that TomTom are going to remove shortest route in a future release. _________________ Geraint

TT3 does currently have shortest route, but rumours suggest this will go away in future releases. _________________ Geraint

Does it? Please can you tell me how I can choose this option as I've not been able to find it. So far I've had to exlcude certain roads until it calculates a shorter route.

If you are anything like me you would argue with it and then totally ignore the instructions you are given as you know better, then find yourself totally lost and the battery just died on the PDA. _________________ Mike Barrett |

In Map mode select the A/B icon on the bottom toolbar. Then select the Type tab which is just above the soft keyboard. Finally select Shortest route in the Drop-down box adjacent to Type:
Have fun. You will be going down lots of narrow lanes |

Yes, sorry about that. The thread is a bit of a mixture, but I should have noticed your earlier post where you mention TTGO. |

Any idea why Tom Tom would want to reduce funtionality on future releases? Seems like a backward step to me although I must admit the way the feature works is a bit quirky as you have to set the route on the map rather than on the navigator screen.
What I'd like to see on the navigator screen is the ability to:
1) select a location then
2) select a route type (shortest, quickest, preferred) then
3) select a speed profile (e.g. for different times of day; for different countries where traffic may be lighter than in the UK; for cycling).
Currently you can do all those things but only by grubbing around in Properties or setting Avoids etc.
