|
|
I have a problem with Camera Manager (v3.0).
It has worked perfectly up until today.
When I check for updates but am not logged on to PGPSW I get the usual error message "Not logged in to PGPSW.com. Cannot check for updates"
However, when logged on to PGPSW and try to check for updates, Camera Manager just sits in the busy mode indefinitely. The only way to stop Camera Manager is to open the Task Manager and end the process.
Any help would be appreciated. |

How long is "indefinately" - 30 seconds, 10 minutes?
You've obviously got internet access, as CM can identify when you're (not) logged into PGPSW. It sounds to me like something is making it slow to download the database (PGPSW site traffic, ISP issues, etc)?
Is it still causing a problem, or has it "fixed" itself? |

I have tried again and it is still in the busy mode after 10 minutes.
However, when I checked the folder to where the speed camera files are downloaded, I noticed that the files have in fact been updated, however for some reason they have been saved as Word documents instead of GPX files. |

Eh? Word documents?! Something very, very strange going on there!
I suggest that you have a clear-out of your POI directory - delete the offending files, plus any downloaded database zips (you can leave any BMP/WAV/MP3 files) - and try again... |

I have cleared out my POI directory as suggested and run Camera Manager again. This time CM goes into the busy mode for a few seconds then closes as if no updates have been found. |

Make an arbitrary change to the settings (say, add a second to one of the timings) and click Apply or OK - that will cause CM to regenerate the database (and re-download it first if necessary)... |

It gets stranger and stranger. I made the arbitary changes as suggested.
This time CM stayed in the busy mode indefinitely again. When I checked my POI directory a Zip file had been downloaded but not extracted. When I extracted the files, although they had the Excel logo the file type was listed as 'TMP' |

When I try to download the extracted files to my Garmin I get the following error message "The file C:\Speed Camera/Output.CSV is invalid. Do you want to continue?" |

they're probably not word files. chances are at some point you have associated gpx files to open with MS word and, as such, you see the word icon. if you right click and view 'properties' then you should see the actual file type.

So as I can start from scatch again, can you tell me how to completely delete Camara Manager. I tried to delete (by using the recycle bin) and re-install but the new version recognised some of my settings so there must be registry items etc. still active. |

After a few e-mail exchanges between Ash and myself the problem has been resolved. His help was much appreciated. |
