You can use the same Home software, but you will need a different email address for each device. This is usually easily achieved by changing the identification before the @

The e-mail name that you use with Home doesn't have to actually work, you could use M_Mouse@disney.com or maca2@blueyonder.com (Niether of these will work for e-mail but they would both work as far as TT Home is concerned) - Mike |

There are currently five TomToms in our household and they all get connected to the same copy of Home on the same PC.
Current versions of Home will also remenber the account names for each device for you, so will switch to the correct account as soon as you plug in each machine.
You can even connect several devices at the same time on different USB ports and Home will simply ask which one you want to manage.
(SOMETIMES, Home can be quite clever! ) |

One thing you need to be careful of is, if you try and change the associated e-mail address for the unit - TomTom only allows one change every 6 months and the question that asks you to make the change is a little confusing if you don't pay attemtion ... which on first use, I didn't :-( _________________ (Older kit: TomTom Go Original, 910, 940 Live, 1005 Live and Snooper S4 Neo. |
|
My current GPS is a XL IQ Routes but I still own an IPAQ with TomTom Navigator installed.
I have seen advertised TomTom Navigator 6 software with the USA and Canada maps for about £30 which would be cheaper than downloading the Canada only map from TomTom (£55) for the XL IQ Routes for use when I go to Canada later in the year.
The blurb says the Navigator software is easy to install using TomTom Home but having created a new account with a different e-mail address I cannot seem to get the Home software to recognise that the IPAQ unit is connected. I guess I am missing something obvious (I usually do!)
Any ideas, please? |

TomTom Navigator 6 doesn't use the Home system for map activation its still using the old way of device code, product code which you enter in to the web page www.ttcode.com this then produces an activation code that you enter directly on the PDA - Not too sure I would bother using TTN6 though as the maps are very dated when compared to reality - Mike |

It's a different version to that which you need for the XL.
See Here.

Probably a silly question, but just how do you go about changing the email address associated with a particular TomTom device... in my case a ONE?
Thanks! |

Not silly at all!
I like to think of myself as being reasonably au fait with TomTom's ways... but I can't remember either.
It's going to have to be:
1. on the machine itself, or
2. in Home, or
3. on the TT website.
I'll go looking....
EDIT: It's on the TT website.
1. Go to the main site at http://www.tomtom.com, check it says United Kingdom in the drop-down box top right corner,
2. Go to "My TomTom Login" (top right again)
3. Enter the existing email address and password
4. It should now say "Welcome your name in the top right
5. Click on "My TomTom (top right again)
6. and in the "My Profile" section is a link to change the email address
I think you can only do it once every six months (maybe). |

Thanks for the tips. I downloaded from the link supplied and installed the Home program which turned out to be 1.5. It recognises the device but keeps giving me line errors. I have made no progress so I Ithink I'll take Mike's advice and go for the more expensive option of the Canada map for my XL IQ Routes. |
