What's the problem navigating to LS4 2DG (Vue Cinema) - my 940 says no route found? (v845 map) |

The inner semi circular road around the cinema where the post code takes you to has been marked as un-routable for traffic.
Browse the map and zoom in on the post code. You'll see the destination is surrounded by a pink and white road.
Set a destination on the road around the outside.
Removing the restriction doesn't work as the inner semi circle road isn't joined to the outer ring...... |

Ah, a map change probably due to Map Share with the latest maps rolling this crap into the main release, I might be wrong, but this is one of the major down sides to unverified mapshare changes making it in to a formal map release - Mike |

Or green and white on my map colours!
I don't think this can be a MapShare correction Mike. As Paul says, the ends of the straight section of the road are unconnected to the outside world, and you can't do that in MapShare. |

That's the outer loop. The newer maps have a semi circular road piece at the top which isn't connected. However that didn't stop TT from putting the postcode marker on the unconnected piece of road...

On my W&CE 2GB 8.45 map the inner road shows as being joined if you zoom right in BUT it is blocked to traffic in both directions!
Just unblocked it with Mapshare (4 corrections needed) and I still can't plan a route to that postcode. |

Why not just browse the postcode and then select the Outer Road, and then navigate to that?
Just a thought!!! _________________ XL LIVE IQ Routes (Europe)

That's what I did - I just wanted to know why it wouldn't let me get to the postcode in the first place! |

2 observations:
1. The building that appears 'under' the postcode marker in question isn't the cinema anyway, it's a Frankie & Benny's (IIRC -- some other restaurant if not). What happens if you search for the Cinema POI nearest this postcode?
2. The Royal Mail website places the 'postcode' at exactly the same place on their interactive map, so this is unlikely to be a TomTom fault as such, they're just applying the data provided to them as an additional layer.
It's frustrating, and it's happened to me more than once too, but I think it's probably just something we have to live with when trying to navigate via postcodes alone.
Would be nice if TT could provide a more useful reply to the condition though; perhaps "no route found - open destination on map?" instead of just extending the rods. Add it to the list! |
