|
|
I've been a long time user of Sat Nav and have owned 3 TomTom dedicated units.
I have been using an iPhone since day one and love the little beast.
Currently I have purchased TomTom, CoPilot and now Camera alert and have to admit I use all three for different reasons.
If travelling to an unknown destination I prefer TomTom purely for cosmetic reasons, although I hate the speed camera warning beeps & bells.
If I'm going anywhere I have a preferred route to, I am now using Camera Alert to give me up to date camera locations.
However if I'm towing a caravan, like 1/2 million other Brits, I use CoPilot because of its extra Routing options, TomTom is just so dangerous to use and has got me stuck on narrow lanes once too often.
I've written to TomTom suggesting the addition of extra options & spoken camera alerts but their technical department are unapproachable! If and I'm not holding my breath, if TomTom make a couple of changes in the future, then I might rethink. |

Just given the iPhone app a good workout today. Been using a GO700 for the last 5 years.
Lane guidance is good.
The routes are "better". Well, the three I used today over 150 miles were the ones I would have chosen myself!
Tomtom Safety Cameras are as bad as people say. First time I've used them and it missed three out of six in the first 10 miles!
Screen is clear enough for me.
GPS holder is a bit basic. Why not use the dock connector?
And then I have the usual gripes about no PGPSW cameras and the app at the same time. I think I'll use CameAlert on my regular runs. today i was off to somewhere new. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

They do use the dock connector? Or do you mean, why not allow for iPhone cables to be plugged in?
I prefer my Brodit cradle, simple drop in/lift out and it allows me to use my preferred power/aux-in set ups. _________________ Darren Griffin |
