|
|
I'm hoping someone can advise me on this please. I recently purchased a new GO 730 and inadvertently used the latest map guarantee to map version 840. However, TT support very kindly allocated a (free) version 845 map to my account which should be available through Home (running latest version of Home) But there is no sign of this map update available to me through Home.
The TT support instructions say to remove the application (8.351) and then the map - the GO 730 is then supposed to reboot to load firstly the application, and then reboot again to load the updated map. Naturally, I'm very wary of removing both the application & map from the unit!
I have made both an explorer & Home backup. Is the advice from TT support to remove both application & map and then reboot safe and reliable?
Grateful for your advice and experience. |

I'd not rely upon the Home backup, but keep the Explorer backup safe on your PC and if it all goes pear shaped you can format your device and copy your backup files to your device.
I, and many others on this forum, have done this many times without problems. But before you delete anything from your device, just check that all the files and folders in your device are also in your backup folder

I had the same problem, but did not have a working back up. It took nearly two weeks to resolve (by email).
It was resolved by creating a new account with a different email address and linking my unit to that account, CS then added my map to the new account and the map appeared.
I would go through the 1st step and when it dosn't work suggest to CS that you want to try this next, could save a lot of frustration.

Guys,
Many thanks for your helpful comments. In the end, this turned out to be an omission at TT Support who hadn't correctly assigned the update to my account. This has now been corrected, downloaded and installed. Mustn't complain though, I've found TT Support to be most courteous and helpful (Thanks Andrew M!) |
