|

I am having problems getting the warning sounds to work on my iGO8 I can see the cameras on the screen but I can't get them to work? I tried modifying the sys.txt file but that didn't work? here is a copy of my sys txt:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[map]
2dheadup=1
All I want is for it to warn me of any cameras that I am coming up to can you help at all? |

If you goto Settings Warnings, have you got the option of Speed Camera Warnings? With the standard skin, you need a GPS Fix to enable this option. Within that, there are options for Visual and Audible warnings. |

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Warn if too fast for a pedestrian (unticked)
Saftey mode (unticked)
Speed Camera Warning (ticked)
This is all very new any help you can give me would be much appreciated. |

I think this may be the problem, I do not have anywhere to set anything, I have gone throught the root directory and it appears that there are sound effects for the speed cameras but there is nothing to set them in on the appication? |

Those are the options for "Warn When Speeding", don't you have a similar options box to the right hand side of "Speed Camera Warning" ? You need a valid GPS fix to be able to see it.

Ok, so with those settings you will only get an audible warning when you actually exceed the speed limit. Also the Speed camera warnings don't work in simulation mode, you need to test them on an actual journey. Setting the "Audible Warning" to "While Approaching" will make that easier without having to break the speed limit !

Really? thats quite odd indeed? Is there anyway of writing in a script in order to get them to work in simulation?

I will test it out later and see if they work.
Are there any tweaks I can make so I can choose how far away from the cameras before being notified? you mentioned a gps fix? |

I've never found any way to enable them in simulation mode. If you want to modify the settings you need to edit the sys.txt file:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=81731
If iGO is actually installed on the device there are usually two copies of sys.txt, make sure you edit the active one.

Are there any patches or anything I need to change to make improve my machine? I am currently running version 8.3.2.93112. I see that there are ways of making buildings appear in 3d mode. I have seen that some people have long script on the sys txt however, mine is only a few lines, is this normal?
Thanks for all your help with this I appreciate it alot |

There are various skins available, depending on the resolution of your device, which can improve (or otherwise depending on your point of view) the standard iGO8 interface.
With the standard iGO8 installation 3D buildings are installed by default. They're only in the centre of large cities though.
My sys.txt is only one line, and unless you want to modify everything that is usually sufficient. In my opinion the default settings are fine for most purposes.

Ok I understand, in regards to your link if I copy and past the lines from the link to the sys txt will that change the speed warning distances automatically? or do I need to do something else?
i.e
[warning]
approach_beep_distances=200
approach_beep_sound="!sectionbeepB"
max_section_time=240
overspeed_sound= "!alert3" ; speedcam sound
pedestrian_warning=0
pedestrian_warning_threshold=10
section_beep_distance=200
section_beep_sound= "!sectionbeepA"
section_end_sound= "!sectionend"
section_start_sound="!sectionstartA"
speedcam_maxdistance_from_road=
speedcam_max_angle=20
speedcam_max_lookahead=400
speedcam_snap_distance=200
speedcam_soundtype=1
speedcam_visualtype=1
speedcam_warning=1
speedlimit_warning=1
speedlimit_warning_visual=1
speedlimit_warning_voice=1
speedwarn_alt_builtup_based=1
speedwarn_alt_limit
speedwarn_alt_tolerance
speedwarn_tolerance=110
speedwarn_alt_toltype
speedwarn_toltype
warn_distances=130:450,110:350,90:300,60:200,40:10 0 ;These numbers are apparently in the format of speed and distance. |
