|
|
I purchased my x40 when they first came out and have been using the prepaid yearly live services for the UK,
I know at the end of last year they opened up european roaming which is great, but I was rather surprised that the bun it now works fine with all live services (Except HD traffic of course which is not available in North America). But all other services now work fine including Google Search (Which is a godsend) Weather Buddies etc.
I may have missed this in the announcement but it has come as a nice surprise and my x40 will now be my main nav device on US trips
Well done to tomtom for making this a no charge service for Euro roamers! |

That's good to hear. I'm off to the USA next month for a holiday so I may well buy a USA map now for my 740.

Hey thanks for letting us know!
That is great news! I am in the US 2 - 3 times a year and love cruising the freeway in an SUV! Lol!
So I will still need to use the TMC cable for traffic updates but can search Google Destinations. What about fuel prices? Did that work? |

I am off to the USA in 2 weeks, and will be taking my 950 with me! Will report back on the availability of LIVE services out there!
Fingers crossed!

Yes Fuel Prices were fine, everything except for traffic worked fine. I was on the West Coast beween LA & Vegas as usual and it held a signal on the Live services all the while. |

Hi all.
Did anyone else manage to use Live services on your trips to the USA? We are going in 10 days and have the 950. We usually use the Hertz Neverlost but want to try the Tomtom.
Thanks |

I took my 950 live to USA a few weeks back and it didn't connect to live services in California, Nevada or Arizona. So whether the 950 doesn't do GSM 850/1900 or TomTom no longer allow use in USA is anyones guess. The network screen showed no bars of signal at all. |

I am annoyed that TomTom promote the 950 as top of the range when the FM transmitter and 850/1900 is missing from the gsm compared to the previous top of the range model, the 940. What will the 1000 be missing? Text to speech? USB? Screen? |

How did you get on with the 950 and live services? Or did you put report somewhere else? _________________ TomTom Go 950 Live.
