Norton Antivirus is deleting TomTom Voices.chk from my PC Backup folder, just leaving .vif & bmp.
Remedy overcome by going into Norton Anitirus program and setting up CENTRALZED EXCEPTIONS to ignore .chk |

A better approach is to get some proper AV software for your PC, I won't evn consider using a PC with Norton installed as it hogs the machine and tries to take over - My last Laptop came with it pre-installed and the first thing I did was delete and remove all traces of it - Mike |

Mike. Sorry...I have to disagree. I have been using Symantics Endpoint Protection Corporate Version for past 2 years with no such hogging problems. However AVG kept deleteing all sorts of files. |

is OK. It's the retail products that aren't quite so good...... |

Must agree with Mike on this, even Endpoint which is on my works PC. Scanning a 2GB pen drive brings a decent spec machine to it's knees.
As for deletion of clean TomTom data.chk files . Device ruining false positives I can live without.
But credit for finding the work round. |

Kasperski Internet Security is what I have found to be stable and cost effective as the three license pack version isn't too costly and lets me sort three computers in one go, look for bargains at Staples or PC World though as its often discounted far more than purchasing directly on line - Mike |

Thanks Mike. I seem to remember my online bank recommending that one. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Thanks again for the advice Mike. I've ordered it from Amazon for £22 and some pence. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Following an issue on a customers laptop just yesterday
You may well have "fun" removing norton
Kaspersky will not install if any part of norton remains.
There is a utility on the symantec site which should get rid of it, this worked for me (sorry didnt keep the link) . Google is your freind
You may then need to clean up your registry CCleaner is good for that
Best of luck |

I googled remove norton and followed the advice that came up. It involved using Symantic's removal tool, deleting various files and folders and deleting all reference to Norton and Symantic from the registry.
I now have Kapersky working fine. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Norton, ugh! It has caused so many issues for so long I'm amazed it still exists! _________________ Darren Griffin |
