|
|
I've just bought my wife a TT Start and testing it out I was a little dissapointed to find that in 2D mode the map did not automatically rotate so that my driving direction on screen was always from the bottom to the top i.e. the curser arrow pointing upwards. In 3D mode there is no problem. There is an option to change the cursor image only. I've also noticed that unlike my GO 700 when approaching a roundabout the map does not zoom into the area on approach.
Are these standard "features" of the Start or is there a way to overcome them without resorting to buying a different model?
Thanks,
Garry |

The Start's 2D view is limited to always showing North at the top, not the direction you are driving. Sadly, no way to alter this in that model. _________________ David |

David, why not try loading a custom menu text file to the Start and see if it will open any new "doors" in terms of functionality, I very much doubt it will but it might be worth wasting ten minutes on the issue to try it - Mike |

I know, thats why I said 10 minutes, I would take 30 seconds!
Here you go:
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_ROTATE_DISPLAY|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAIR_WITH_PHONE
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PHONE|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_ROUTE_INSTRUCTIONS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Main menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_BUDDIES|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_DOWNLOAD|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_FAVORITES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
Save that as tomtom.mnu and put it in the sdkregistry folder then boot the device and see if it will use the custom menu text (I very much doubt it will) - Mike |
