Is the default value of W03 correct for TQ 60700 92959. OS Landranger 167 states Grid Magnetic Angle 03deg 57min W of Grid North July 2006 with annual change of 9min E. So Grid Magnetic Angle apprx 3deg 26min W.
Is this then the Manual setting or is it the opposite i.e 3deg 26min E |

Joe,
If you visit here:-
http://www.magnetic-declination.com/#
and enter your position it will tell you what your magnetic declination should be.
In Wakefield,West Yorks it is 2Deg 35Min west at present.

Thanks for an excellent link Bosun
Does anyone know whether the Active 10 does a similar calculation to this website when "automatic" is selected for magnetic variation? |

Lucevans,
I presumed that it did make a calculation but having just read the User Guide (Sect.5.10 ) I am not so sure.
It says that to set "Automatic" then change the setting to "Automatic",but at the foot of the page it says "Grid Magnetic Angle W03" as if that is the default setting.
However on the unit itself when the GMA ( what's wrong with Declination ) is set to "Automatic" it says that the GMA is calculated from GPS position indicating that if you move to a different spot then the GMA will be recalculated.
As declination varies from 1 degree 11 minutes in Lowestoft in the East and 3 degrees 33 minutes in Penzance in the West then a "blanket" setting of 3 degrees for the whole UK is a bit out.
