Having some problem setting up a "custom" splash screen on my new XL IQ Routes! On my "one" It was just a matter of importing the "new" bmp and putting a "1" in the old bmp (in front of the .bmp) Have tried this with the XL and it 's not using the new splash! I've obviously got something wrong!!! HELP!! Dave. |

It may be an issue where your 'one' model had a 3.5" screen and so the splash.bmp file worked.
For a 4.3" model, you need a file called splashw.bmp but it's not as simple as just renaming a sphlash file to splashw. The file has to be the right size.
Try this:
Go here and upload the image in question and select a 720 unit as the model you have (4.3") screen. It'll create the proper sized file for you and you simply download. _________________ David |

splash.bmp, antitheft.bmp, suspend.bmp (or their "w" variants for widescreen models) all go in the root directory, i.e. not in any folder.
More info on root directory if needed: What Is This "root Directory" I Keep Hearing About?
Not all models support the 'suspend' image. Those that do will use it if you DON'T have "Warn not to leave device in car" selected, otherwise the 'antitheft' image is shown.
For models that don't support 'suspend', you can just replace the default 'antitheft' image with one of your own.
If your model does support the use of a 'suspend' image, did you know you can also have a 'suspend.ogg'? i.e. A SHUTDOWN SOUND.

In the root of the device, not in any folder (browse with Windows Explorer and you'll see the existing splash.bmp or splashw.bmp there). _________________ Dennis

OH yes -- forgot to say that I have just bought a new 750L..

Just wanted to say thank you for the info here. I was just about to ask the same question when a search pulled in this answer.
Great link.
