Well when do we think TT will increase their standard "4.3"" screem size on the top of the range models. I note they offer a 5" screen on the XXL 540, is this a test model for such an unit upgrade:?:

Only a matter of time. The XXL model is US only at present but you can bet it'll be offered here in due course. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The XXL is out now via the tomtom website, or as I did by mistake, from idealworld.tv, where I got the XXL IQ Routes Europe Edition for £199.99 including free traffic module and case.
Doesn't have bluetooth, so safety can't be all that important. |

I don't think they WILL do it as an "upgrade".
We are constantly reminded not to leave our satnavs in the car, so many people will still want a small screen size that fits in a pocket easily.
A large screen model or models is an obvious addition to the product range, but I reckon it will always be a bit of a niche market.
Anyway, TT don't seem to be able to decide what their "top of the range" models are any more! The x50 models are inferior to the previous x40 range, and many would argue that some of the really early models do the core function of navigation better then any of the last 4 or 5 new ranges! |

Personally I would prefer to see a SatNav screen which was taller than it is wide like on PDA's and mobile phones. I always have my Driving View set to show direction towards the top, so most of the information shown to the left and to the right is superfluous to me. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Such a device has already been produced but it made such a lasting impression I cannot remember the manufacturer, device name or the date of release - Having spent 30 minutes searching for it I guess I might be dreaming! but I am sure it was reviewed or at least covered in a trade show write up at some point - Mike |

Amazing! Is there anything that at least one person on this forum doesn't know? (I'd be happy to get a PM with this next Wednesday's lottery numbers, please). _________________ Dennis

Seriously folks, I think that the present screen size is quite adequate. As I have always slipped the device into my bag or pocket when exiting my vehicle I certainly think that size matters.
After all, lets go to the extreme and picture a 14 inch screen. It would be as big as a laptop yet would show no more information than my 720 device does now.
No, I am quite happy to stay as I am. I’m a dinosaur. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I already have to buy and wear a special gilet - two mobile phones, Traffic Master, GO520, XL Live, GO700 and HTC Advantage X7510 burst your hip pockets, believe me! Quite trendy really, makes me look like a big game hunter (with bulges). _________________ Dennis
