Indeed there is, Roadhawk! Their own web-site has the dimensions which are 120 x 45 x 20mm. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren for the reply. I did have a look on the website and couldn't find the dimensions. I've just revisited the website and still kind find it. I must be going blind or on a different website (http://www.roadhawk.co.uk/). Anyway, I've got the answer now |

Well that answers the 2nd question. Yes, I am going blind! |

It's now been sometime since this was released. Anyone care to share their experiences both good and bad?
Can anyone confirm/refute if having two cameras (one at rear and one at front) is going to be a decent benefit over a single at the front?
TIA |

Whilst the more cameras the better, for the majority of incidents a front facing camera is the best compromise IMHO. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I am more than happy with my Roadhawk. It's been in operation since Christmas and no problems so far.
What I *would* like is the ability to use Linux to display the saved data files but this seems not to be an option yet. I don't use Windows much so this limits the use a little. |

I doubt there ever will be a Linux option. I am a Mac user and no option for that either. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's kind of ironic really, considering that the firmware in the device itself is actually running the Linux.2.6.13 kernel.

I will of course have some sample footage in the review (now that I know how to export it!).[/quote]
Darren
How do you export the video, nothing in the instruction booklet and help only produces software version number.
The gadget is V good, I've used the temporary mounting to date but hardwiring it this weekend. _________________ HUAWEI P30 Pro (new edition) with Speedtrap Alert & alcatel1 for SatNav

Reading this topic, I've just downloaded the demo install from their site and installed it on Ubuntu 9.10 using Wine. Seems to go smooth and I could watch the sample videos. Not sure about anything else though, as I don't have an actual device, but I'm guessing you can copy the files from the SD Card over then you can open them running in Wine.
Hope this helps. |

I have the application running under Wine but there are a number of issues. This makes it rather less than useful. They are :
1) the speed reported by the application under Wine is about 10-12% faster than under "real" Windows. This makes it look like you are constantly speeding.
2) There is no support for the Google Maps interaction.
3) The top menu line of the application is missing, so you can't close it down cleanly.
4) I *think* the sound is slightly accelerated under Wine, so that towards the end of a segment, it suddenly stops and the remainder of the video is silent.
It's a poor second, but I have to admit that it's better than nothing sometimes.
Regards,
Z. |

I would have thought the speed be calculated on the GPS camera itself. Can't think why it would use the video playback software to calculate the speed, it wouldn't really make sense to me. |

Yes, it stunned me as well, but it seems to be the case.
Maybe Wine has maths library issues?
