Picked up satellites first thing, then it decided I was going the wrong way down the bypass and then lost all satellites.
Have done a paperclip reset, but still nothing.
The satellite page doesn't even show any grey bars.
Please can someone help. _________________ Regards

how long did you wait ....
sometimes I can wait up to 20 minutes for a signal but that's first thing in the morning and mostly after I've done an update
noy saying that's your problem just saying it's mine and could be yours _________________ TomTom 5001 |

Half an hour drive to work this morning, 25 minutes with no satellites.
I have not connected to Home for 6 months, so can't blame Home.
I am surprised that there are no grey bars showing up on the satellite page. _________________ Regards

You really need to be stationary outside for 20 minutes, if there is still no activity grey/ blue bars after this duation it sounds like the GPS patch aerial in the device has packed up - If its still under warranty give TomTom a ring on 0845 161 0009 otherwise it might be time for a new device - Mike |

Thanls Mike.
I had a feeling something like this might be the problem.
Normally you see a few grey bars when then it is searching for a satellite.
I'm not sure when I bought it, it was a refurb from an online store, will have to check when I get home.
Do I contact the online store for repair or TomTom? _________________ Regards

Thanks again Mike. TomTom it is then. What's their normal turnaround for repairs?

I get this (or something simalar) from time to time with my 740. I've yet to find a confirmed, permanent fix for the problem because it's so intermittent but at the minute my current "fix" is to delete the contents of the ephem folder on the PC, connect to Home and download the latest GPSQuickFix, start the unit and leave it with a good view of the sky for 10 minutes. If that doesn't work then a reset seems to sort things out. Maybe. |

Hi sphelps
Yes, it sounds like a device hardware fault to me. I have a 720 and getting a satellite fix has never been a problem. Whether I am stationery or on the move I doubt if I have ever waited more than two minutes. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Started it up on the way home and it wouldn't go past the main screen, which was flickering. Did a reset, and blow me down it started to find satellites, and was working fully after 20 minutes.
Keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.
Thanks for everyone's advice
