|
|
I've just bought a 950 to replace my 540 which kept locking up. Having updated everything using TomTom HOME, I've noticed something odd about the safety camera warnings...
Every time I approach a camera, the number in the red circle (which surely is supposed to show the speed limit?) is wrong. But it's consistant:
For red light cameras it shows 31
For 60mph limits it shows 37
For 30mpg limits it shows 19
Everthing else seems correct ie the distance to the camera.
Anything else I need to do to set this up correctly - or is it a fault in the speed camera database? |

It is a known bug with the latest software. We are awaiting a fix for this issue!

Oh - ok! Glad its not just me then...
Don't TomTom test any of their stuff?!!!
I was also wondering - what is the difference between the premium and "non premium" tomtom safety camera database? Is the non premium just locations? |

Actually, TomTom devices don't have bugs. However, in this case, it's not so much an "issue" as a "challenge".
I suppose you've all already noted that 31(mph) = 50Km/Hr, 60Km/Hr = 37mph and 30Km/Hr = 19mph.
On my XL Live, Premium cameras (updated via Home) are the fixed cameras. Others are two types of mobiles - the majority are merely possible mobile locations (I don't know how they got them, but there are four or five in the back streets of my home area!), the remainder being updated via the device are supposed to be actual live mobile locations reported on the day by TT users - back in the sad days when I used to try those out, I had one genuine report, which was retained and reported for a week or more.
As for TomTom testing, Falkirk might be able to answer that as I understand he Beta tested the 950? _________________ Dennis

Anyone involved in Beta testing for a commercial company will have signed a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and as such its rather difficult (impossible) to discuss such activity on a public forum - Mike |

Thanks for the info, as I wasn't sure whether to download the non-premium as well as the premium speed camera files...
DennisN - I emailed TomTom support regarding the mph/km mix up - and they did describe it as a "challenge" rather than a "bug"/"issue" |

Actually TomTom doesn't have "Premium" cameras - the cameras they have are loosely described as an issue, a challenge and generally rubbish and unreliable. For a premium camera database, subscribe to ours. _________________ Dennis
