|
|
Today I bought from Halfords a TomTom 750 GO Live (according to the box), this was to replace a unit stolen from my car as a result of a breakin. I downloaded the latest version of TomTom Home only to find that although the unit appeared to indicate that I was connected to my computer, the computer said no unit was connected.
I went to the TomTom website just to make sure that I had entered the correct details re Model No, and used there on-site service to enter the Serial No. of my unit and it came up and identified it as a TomTom 740 Go Live.
My question is simple are the TomTom 740 and 750 GO Lives exactly the same unit and if not what is the differences.
Cheers guys for any help. |

Other than the model number and the Navcore version installed I don't think there is much in way of a difference between the 740/ 750 devices, one easy check though is look at the base of the device and see what the label says as the part number will be printed on the applied label - Mike |

Hi Mike. Many thanks for the reply, the Model No on the base just says 'GO LIVE', the box say 750 Go Live, but if you enter the Serial No in the product identifier facility on the TomTom site it says it is a 740 Go Live. |

Use Windows Explorer to view the files on the device when you first click the drive letter to open it you are at the root level of the device, locate the file named "ttgo.bif" right click this and select Open With then choose NotePad, the third line will tell you what the device is, don't rely on TT Home to report versions/ ID's etc as its reknown for messing these sort of things up - Mike |

Isn't the model also written on the label with the serial code? _________________ Drivelux |

My new GO 950 has on the bottom of the unit
GO 950 LIVE
And using the link above, my serial number (starting W1) gives a result of
GO 950 LIVE - 4GB
from the tomtom website! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

You should be careful what you ask for
I have TT GO630 (Europe 22) ACJ6.000.00 &
TT GO730 Traffic (Europe 31) 4CH7.000.00
What you going to do with all of this info? Write a book.

No, that's great, thank you, Graham (and Stampy too).

No, just the list I linked to above....
A bit "anorak-y" I'll admit, but it DOES come in useful for all the different variants of "ONE" when people aren't sure what it is they've got ("v2", "New Edition" "3rd Edition" "v4", "30 series" etc.) |

Even my simple little ONE IQ Routes edition, turned out to have an 'S' in its latest description - meaning 'Speech'. Don't have it with me at the mo, as I have lent it to my daughter. Will find out in due course and let you have the details of that one.
