Hi there,
are you sure that this problem occurred when you updated the database. my TT720 went into silent mode when I installed updates via TT home. I still havent solved this issue, so if anyone has any thoughts, I would be ever so grateful.

First thought, check your setting on the volume preferences page and switch off auto-level adjust.

Hi there,
thanks for the prompt reply Andy_P, have looked at that but the box was not ticked and when I pressed the test button, the unit still stayed silent, although the volume is set at 95%.
I am running software version 7.481, if that has any bearing on your thoughts.

Check Change Preferences/ Speaker Preferences and make sure its set to internal speaker and NOT to FM Tx as I have known this catch a few people out when you have no volume from the device - Mike |

I've split tubbs' problem into it's own topic, as "no sound" is probably a different problem to "variable volume"
Presume you've tried a reset tubbs?
After that, the next thing to do would be to reinstall the software. Shout if you need help with doing that. |

1. Make a full backup with Windows Explorer. See the FAQs topic at the top of the TomTom section for instructions (its HERE)
2. With Explorer, DELETE all the LOOSE files on on the TT (i.e the ones that are NOT in any folders). DO NOT delete any folders!
3. Connect TT to computer and run 'Home'.
(Home can be downloaded from TomTom HERE).
4. Home should automatically check for updates and prompt you to install them, if not:-
5. Click "Update my TomTom - wait to see what it offers you.
6. Select the Application update and wait for it to install.
7. Click on 'Device - Disconnect Device', wait for it to re-boot and ask if you want to connect to the computer, select "No" and when you see the normal navigation screen, turn off and disconnect. |
