Hi
Can someone explain in simple language how I install latest ver of maps on my Tom Tom one xl? No matter what I do I still have the same ver of maps after I do an install. The ver of maps (GB & Europe) I currently have is V8.010 and also have a 2GB SD card.
PS as I never use this abroad is it possible just to install GB & N Ireland maps instead?
I would appreciate any help offered and also ask if it can be explained in the simpliest of terms.
Regards. |

Check to see if you can do this.....
Change Preferences
Manage Maps
Switch Map
GB and Ireland is available as a separate purchase from TomTom, but you can't split it out of the existing Europe map. _________________ Dennis

It would also help to know if you are using "Home" to buy and install the map, or some other method.... |

Dennis/Andy
Thanks for the replies. I've tried changing maps and this only lets me select between Canary Is and GB & Europe. When I select (again) GB & europe it is still ver 8.010.
I subscribed almost a year ago with Tom Tom for their update service but still have old rev of maps. I'm also accessing this through Home ver 2.7. I tried again and Home tells me I have the latest ver of maps....but how can I when it is ver 8.010???
Can you shed any light on this? |

A couple of things I can think of..
1. You have installed the new map to the SD card (you can check that by looking at the SD card with Windows Explorer).
On the One XL you can't use both the SD card and the internal memory at the same time, so you either have to copy all the system files from the internal memory onto the SD card as well, or make room on the internal memory for the new map.
2. If you want to make room of the new map, what happens if you physically move the old map folder of the internal memory (put it somewhere safe on your PC), then take out the SD card and try to install the new map again. There may or may not be enough space for it. |

I've never heard of an 8.010 Map.
If you tap the Satellite graphic on the Main Screen, then the box containing the version x.xxx number, you should get a screen full of data. The important information is on Lines 2 and 5. What do they say? _________________ Richard

OB
I feel such a dick head. No wonder I thought the maps were not updating!
I did as you suggested and found APP 8.010. Map Western Europe V840.2561. Not sure if this is the latest map ver but then I never knew what ver I had originally.
Thanks for this and is there any other handy tips you can pass on?
Regards. |

Not half as much as I do, for missing the obvious:
